The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Saw on Gopher Puck Reid Conn is staying DI and transferring to Canisius. I wish him all the best and hopefully more playing opportunity in Atlantic Hockey.
Chuck and I were going back and forth on this a few pages back.
I think the calculus has changed a bit based on how things have transpired in the portal, but I’ll still hold firm that Souza will be shown the door without a trip to the garden and/or NCAAs. Even still, I think that “Garden run”...

Gopher puck had him as having 3 years of eligibility left. Does the AHL/ECHL year count against his eligibility?
And what if a good program has a not-so-good year? It looks like Penn State may be getting gutted a year out from a FF run, and Maine is losing a bunch, including one of their top scorers Marques to an inter-division rival NU. I also heard Poirier may be leaving Maine as well? I haven’t seen his...
Seems like another solid get for Souza and crew. Again, the season isn’t won in the portal but I can’t help but be impressed with what he has done. I don’t know what kind of NIL money he had to play with, and we may never know. Even still, the portal gains certainly appear to outweigh the...
I was personally hoping for Lehti from Alaska, but it appears he was nabbed by Minnesota State.
I think Silverstein from Quinnipiac would be a great grab as well. 10-6-1 this year with a 0.912 save pct for a good Quinnipiac team. I imagine he will have will have many suitors though…
Others...
Svartstrom seems like a bonafide scorer - something UNH lacked last year. It’s especially promising to see his scoring translate over from the BCHL to his one year of college (20% of your teams total goals as a freshmen is extremely remarkable). Hopefully he can continue to build on that while...
Thanks for the heads up! 3rd round draft pick is impressive. Only 3 points for BU this past year. Looks like another big guy at 6’3”.
Svartstrom also is massive at 6’5” and 17-7-24 as a freshmen on a bad SLU team is impressive. Also saw he was named to ECAC all rookie team.
Johnson at 5’10”...
Can’t argue with that logic. You still need to score to win games. Van Tassell did get 10 assists last year, so perhaps he can continue to build on that to set up his new teammates.
One can hope!
What a whirlwind for a first portal day. Over 200 kids entering today alone, and the day isn’t done! I imagine that’s got to be a record in the portal era?
I wish our departing crew all the best. DeAngelis and MacPherson hurt the most, as I really thought they had potential if they stayed...
I saw Connor MacPherson. I did not see his brother. But perhaps it just refreshed.
I didn’t realize UNH still had the rights to Connor after he went back to juniors. Hopefully his brother stays in Durham…
Thanks for sharing, Dan!
Nothing super surprising here, and I feel follows fairly closely what Emily and Norbert were saying earlier how it lines up with lack of playing time.
The only one from this initial set or 5 that slightly surprises me is Coombs - especially given the optics he is the...
Congrats to Denver on another Championship - taking the BIG10 down a notch after their string of success in the 2025-2026 school year.
Denver seems to be morphing into the Alabama of the 2010s in college hockey. Carle is perhaps another Nick Saban. Given his age, perhaps he will eventually get...
I don’t think MS7 has really shown much apt with the portal. Outside of goalies (Hellsten and KC), who has he gotten that has made a significant difference? I can be convinced of Lindner from AIC - he was steady for sure. But what about the rest?
Looking at the last few years:
Cronin barely...
Ah yes. I stand corrected in DeAngelis.
I could see Plandowski as well he did get in 30 games this year, but perhaps he’s looking for other pastures and his past draft pedigree probably still carries some weight.
I hope MacPherson stays I thought he was starting to turn a corner at the end of...
Well we know one of them thus far (Player) so I guess that leaves 2 defense and 4 forwards left.
If what was said earlier is true and it is based mostly on a lack of playing time, my guess for the rest would be:
Defense:
Reid Conn
Zach Hahn
Forward:
Nick DeAngelis
Connor DeTurris
Jason Siedem...
Speaking a bit more of the 603 Challenge, I haven’t seen one video of Souza asking for donations… theres at least one main one of Rich speaking for the Athletics department.
Looking at the board now, hockey has raised a little over $40K with a goal of $47K by the end of today. If they reach...
I was hearing on social media other teams fans were also clamoring for him. At 6’4” and with his save % / record from last year, I imagine he will get a fair amount of interest across Div 1.
I agree though he looks like a solid fit for UNH!
Thanks again for the updates, CHC!
Not surprised to hear Kennedy and Hyles both confirmed to matriculate this fall. Looking forward to seeing what they can do for the ‘Cats!
Incoming class is already at 6, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Henriquez joins as well to make 7. Very curious to see...
