The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
I agree - although I understand the sentiment by MS7 who is likely trying everything he can to promote more offense on a PP unit that has struggled mightily throughout the year. Putting more goal scorers on the PP makes sense to try and generate more offense.
Still… not a good decision at all...
Well… it was a hard fought game. You can’t expect to win many games when you go 1 for 7 on PP and give up 2 short handed goals.
Nevertheless, they gave PU everything they could take, and 3 points is more than I was honestly expecting this weekend, despite my prediction.
It appears Merrimack...
Someone please remind me - if there is a point tie for a given position, how do they figure out the seeding? Do they look at head-to-head? Out of conference record? Goal differential? I know there is an order to this, I just can’t remember what it is haha!
Give credit where credit is due - you certainly did! I’d certainly put this one in the bucket of memorable recent wins at old Schneider.
If things ended today, we’d be traveling to Lawlor to take on Merrimack… I’d feel a lot better about that game if the arena got flipped to the Whitt.
3...
Hard to imagine that UNH has wins over NPI ranked 20 (Mainex2) , 18 (UMA), 17 (UConn), 11 (Dartmouth), 8 (Providence), and 1 (MSU) and they are a below .500 team…
I think it goes to show most of the “parts” are there for winning - just got to work on the consistency part.
At this time of year...
How about them apples?! Wow! Did not see that coming, but I’ll certainly take it!
The way they’ve been playing defense the past 2 games, they can play with anyone. It reminds me of how they played against Maine and Dartmouth earlier this year.
…Can we get greedy tomorrow?
The end of this...
Not to change the conversation (it is a great conversation, and warrants more discussion) but there are 6 points on the table this weekend. Certainly a tough assignment with the top dogs in Providence… BUT this may play to our advantage so late in the season.
Fri: UNH 1 PC 4
Sat: UNH 2 PC 1...
Perhaps if the AD leaves when the contract is up in June, the new person who comes in will want to make a “splash” with a big coaching change. I kind of felt AD Rich used that opportunity to make the change for Men’s basketball when she first joined.
Likely though, if she leave in June, it will...
Brown just named Tom Upton from UMA as their new HC. To start next fall:
https://brownbears.com/news/2026/2/23/mens-ice-hockey-tom-upton-named-head-coach-of-brown-mens-hockey
Don’t know too much about him, but he’s been steadily rising through the junior ranks (USHL) prior to joining Carvels...
Not to nit-pick this too much, I’m very curious at your choice of words regarding “now apparent short-timer AD”. Going off our conversation a couple of pages ago, are we now leaning towards her leaving/dismissal?
Not sure if it was just your choice of words, and I’m reading way too into this...
I think many of us here would be quite happy to see Ayers become the next UNH coach. Perhaps he could even convince a couple of his recruits to join him in Durham.
With MS7 still having one year left on his contract though, and facilities renovations slated to begin soon, I think that decision...
I agree the chance for a home quarterfinals game (taking place weekend of March 14th, if I’m doing my math correctly) is very remote.
Still, if they make it to Boston, that is the following weekend (March 20/21) and I imagine they’d still be using their locker rooms for practices etc.
If...
This is fantastic news, thanks for sharing Norbert! It’s great to hear these renovations are nearly underway!
Interesting that they start in the 16th though, the ‘cats could theoretically still be playing hockey at that time. Maybe based on past results, they made a prediction they’d probably...
That’s fair, and I agree with e.cat with the sentiment of “any given Sunday”. UNH certainly has shown “shades” of decent play, even stretch’s of it across a few games. They are just mired by massive inconsistency. It’s either a close win (they showed at one point their record in one score games...
Yea they mentioned it was #4 for him this year.
When his defense plays even semi-decent, he has the ability to steal some for the ‘cats. It’s just when he is completely left out to dry/people missing their assignments etc… there’s nothing he can do.
Wonder if he will get a contract to play...
Right two weekends in a row! (Well, kinda - scores are off but results are correct). What crystal ball are you looking into for this? I hope you think another win next weekend could be in the books?
Great defensive effort tonight. Countless blocked shots! MacPherson seems to have picked up his...
Wasnt it someone on here who coined the “Champions of October (or December)” phrase? That has been the theme for this team even going back to the Umile days. Everything goes great up until the winter break, then when they return and HEA schedule starts in earnest, they fall flat - almost every...
Well that was depressing… I don’t think you can take away anything good from tonight, outside of saying it is over. The boys should be well rested for tomorrow as I don’t think they ever left Durham…
Not sure how many more losses like that we have to endure before someone’s card access is...
I was thinking of that during the 3rd. UNH used to take UMass to the woodshed pre-Carvel. How the times have changed.
There’s no reason why UNH can’t change the script. But with this coaching staff? I find it harder and harder to believe each weekend…
