    That is my understanding as well. Just imagine the mess if USC and Oregon added D1 hockey teams. There's already a lot of complaining about the travel for non-revenue sports. It's really stupid to have a conference spanning with width of the country.

    It's really not a priority anymore with move to a la carte tv viewing to get on the main big big 10 channel anymore. All you have to do is get Big 10 plus and you can see every single Big 10 team's hockey game. It's quite remarkable. A big 10 women's hockey conference would be a huge mistake.

    Interestingly Johansson's goal scoring from Mercyhurst indeed carried over to UMD though there is a perceived by some inferiority of that conference to the WCHA. Her apples went down, but she her goals/game was her best last year.
