That's a wrap for the AHA regular season. Final standings look like this:
1 - Penn State
2 - Mercyhurst
3 - Lindenwood
4 - RIT
5 - Syracuse
6 - Robert Morris
7 - Delaware
So...
Thursday, February 19, #6 Robert Morris and #7 Delaware have to play a single game at #3 Lindenwood to get rid of...
This weekend is the final weekend of the AHA regular season, and tournament seeding for numbers 3, 4, 5, and 6 are up for grabs (Delaware is locked at #7). Penn State and Mercyhurst have already secured the #1 and #2 spots.
The current standings are almost comical (but typical) after #1 and #2...
I hadn't bothered looking at the AHA standings in a while, so when I looked this morning and saw Lindenwood in third place, I almost had to call my cardiologist. Say what? Lindenwood? How did that happen?
Everyone except Mercyhurst has two regular season series left (Mercyhurst has one). Penn...
1,838 diehards sat in the stands at Beaver Stadium today in windy 15 degree weather - that's a single game attendance record for Penn State women's hockey.
Penn State takes the win outdoors 3-0, on goals from McKenna Walsh, Grace Outwater, and Maddy Christian. Shots on goal were 42-13 for Penn State. Tomorrow they're back inside Pegula Ice Arena for game two.
No score after the first period of the outdoor game at Beaver Stadium. The puck is moving like it's a wwwwwwet rrrrrrrrrrag, too, and that's really changing the usual look of Penn State's quick game. I don't know how you adjust your game for that. It is what it is...I hope they're having fun!
They're going to have a blast tomorrow, playing outdoors. The regular season title is already in hand, so Penn State can just go out and have some fun playing on an outdoor rink, as most of them probably did as kids. Puck drop is at 1:00 Eastern.

I think this was the last series for the three Olympians.
DeSa got today's game so she could set the Penn State record for career shutouts, which she did.
Penn State beat Delaware (I know, it's Delaware) 5-0, and can clinch the AHA regular season title with a win tomorrow. Goals came from Grace Outwater, Maddy Christian, Mikah Keller, Taya MacDonald, and Kendall Butze.
January 30, outdoor game at Beaver Stadium against Robert Morris. They're already working on the rink at the stadium. Pretty cool that BTN+ has the game on their event calendar, too. I can't even remember the last time I saw an outdoor hockey game.
Penn State beat Syracuse 4-1 tonight on goals from Mya Vaslet, Grace Outwater, Kendall Butze, and Tessa Janecke. Shots on goal were 40-14 for Penn State, so it's good to see them back up there with shots on goal. No sign of Katie DeSa or Matilde Fantin again, so who knows? I'm wondering if...
UConn has split with Mercyhurst, split with BU, barely beat Holy Cross and Maine, and lost to BC. Yeah, that's stellar. Then again, you started this thread putting Cornell at #3...LOL.
That's got to be it, it's the Janecke effect. Damn, she's got some sway.
If my team was #1 and the odds-on...
In the three previous games against Mercyhurst this season, Penn State had outscored them 12-1, with two shutouts. Since the holiday break, their shots on goal are way down, and now the Olympics are taking Janecke, Hall, and Fantin away, so they better get their mojo back on track for the...
Penn State shutout Mercyhurst 3-0, with Maddy Campbell in net and Lauren Hernick as backup goalie - Katie DeSa wasn't even in the lineup, and neither was Matilde Fantin.
