The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
IIRC, the 3x3 OT and shootout was forced by the western schools in the name of "uniformity" in calculating the Pairwise but really because of #BeanpotEnvy. There have been attempts to exempt the Beanpot but none of those efforts have gotten anywhere because of (primarily) western opposition.
AFAIK, the Garden wholly owns the Beanpot. It's a TD Garden production. So, it couldn't be raising the rent on itself. But to the larger issue of cost: The biggest reason college hockey in Boston is the institution it is...is the Beanpot, and all that comes with it.
BTW, it looks like all...

And if the bean counters...
An elderly alumnus from a Beanpot school is settling into his seat—one of the best in the TD Garden--for the Beanpot College Hockey Tournament. The seat next to him is empty. As he sits down, a young lady--a stranger--comes by and asks if the empty seat is taken. "No," he says, "the seat will be...
Ah, Scarlet. At the risk of consorting (but not cavorting) with the enemy, I'll post that in a separate post. Spirits are low at NU and BU, but I'm told the floggings will continue until morale improves. At least we have the late game.
BTW, I'm told that both Harvard fans will be there.
An absolutely hellish end to an absolutely hellish month. Devastating to watch what could easily have been a shutout win turn into another soul-crushing loss. Only thing more depressing is reading the BU thread.
First win at the Whit in several years (!). Nice to see a W after the inexplicable losses at West Point and Burlington. I thought they finally looked like the team we saw at the beginning of the year. A long, steep, uphill climb ahead but at least a step. We'll see how they look Sunday on the...
Not just the paucity of offense. Defenseless is, unfortunately, not an overstatement. The continuing absence of Joachim Lemay has been disastrous but can't be the whole story.
Less than three weeks to puck drop with BC and Harvard in the early game while BU and Northeastern go at it in the late game. The Comm Ave. Axis likely the early favorites but you never know. Closest thing NU will have to a true home game for a while now that the wrecking ball has finally...
NCAA chances fading fast. NPI is now 20 with likely not enough potential quality wins left on the schedule to help lift them above the cut line. Not good news for HEA either, with only two teams (PC and Yukon) in the top 15, with BC close by at 17.
Apparently, a signature piece of Matthews will have a prominent place in the new building:

Ironically, the archway was plastered over and lost to time until a major renovation unexpectedly uncovered it after NU purchased the...
And, of course, Lucy pulled the puck away in the final two minutes to give NU perhaps its most gut-wrenching loss in 115 years of gut-wrenching losses. This hurts beyond belief. Going with only four defensemen caught up with them. They were obviously gassed at the end. Lemay's extended stay...
