UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

And to elaborate, Rookie of the Weak was part of a spin on Milk Carton Missing Kids by a BC pinhead poster whose screen name was something like BobF, IIRC. Maybe Nick P will clarify.

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I remember the handwringing on our threads when UNH lost out to PC for the goaltending services of Jon Gillies, born in Concord, N.H., in 1994 to Bruce Gillies, UNH, G, 1982/83-1984/85. But, UNH went with Casey DeSmith, born in Rochester, N.H., which worked out fine for 2012/13-2013/14 and...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I am still confused about “… bite it in the end.” Bite what in the end? And apparently “a week schedule” only matters if “UNH has a strong second half.”

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

No chatter about upcoming weekend series with NU Huskies that could determine whether Cats have any shot at postseason play?

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Need to sweep NU for any chance of reaching 20 wins in regular season. Yes, we once played roughly a game each season at the SNHU Arena, but based on what I saw at the NCAA Regionals this past March, their ice-making capability needs an overhaul. I do not see that happening with the AHL and...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Who knows, maybe MS7’’s next announcement will be holding postgame or at least weekly pressers? What a concept that would be!

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Through no fault of their own, UNH climbed from 22nd to 21st NPI Friday night and dropped to 23rd NPI on Saturday night. PC now 13th, BC 17th, Yukon 18th NPI.

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Ironic that about this time last season the talk of whether HEA might get five, six, or even seven teams into NCAA’s was just beginning and only intensified over the next couple of months. At least HEA still has four or five teams on the NPI doorstep knocking to get in, although after watching...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Yup, moved up in NPI without playing. Maybe we should have more weekends off mid-season. As for Maine, taking a five-minute major and adding another minor in the middle of that for a 5-3 PK is not a winning formulae for Ben Barr.

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

It is just that I have never seen the 5-3 PP work for UNH with two attackers behind the net (although I was told that it worked once, the first time they used it), but I have seen it lead to odd-man rushes when those “nifty stick man” passes have been picked off for SHG’s at least twice. I think...

ATTN: gawd awful hockey east teams--yes that is you uconn, maine, uhn, and NOTRE DAME

Did the HEA OOC weekend end up 8-4-0? Yet, still only one HEA team in the NCAAs with Yukon at 15, although BC and PC close at 16 and 18 NPI. Hard to believe that Princeton (12), Augustana (13), and Minn State (14) will still be in there come March.

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I agree entirely and commented on this dump and chase PP strategy to my cousins whom I joined for the second and third periods on Sunday night. For me, this stupid coaching strategy ranks right up there with stationing two players behind the opposing net on 5-3 PP’s and trying for ENG’s instead...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I was so certain that we would be in the FF at the Pepsi Center (aka Ball Arena) that I bought tickets in advance for my brother in Lakewood and myself. I could not afford the time away from the classroom for two visits to Colorado, so watched the debacle against NICC (aka Notre Dame) in the...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I entirely agree. Because the Cats were incapable of tying up the puck in the corner for the final 5-6 seconds, Colgate nearly sent the game into OT. Simply horrible fundamentals on the Cats’ part. And, ditto with the Cats three stupid attempts to score an ENG in the final minute leading to...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I like your #2 option, which you posited here a couple months ago, as UNH will be in need of a first-string goalie again next season. Maybe UNH can poach Lukas Swedin (from Stockholm, you know) from Bentley in the off-season, as Arizona State did last off-season with Bentley’s NCAA playoffs...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Trivia quiz time for the elders here. Name at least two ORHS hockey alums who played hockey for UNH.

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Excellent post, JB! Before reading your post, I looked up Colgate’s schedule as I was surprised by how a good team they were in the game I watched at the Whitt on Sunday, and agreed probably a better team now than the overrated Dartmouth in the early season when Colgate lost 1-4 in Hanover. As...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

And Colgate had not played in over three weeks, since December 6th, so I do not buy the “rust argument.” However, I do buy your “playing down to lesser teams mentality,” which I think goes back long before MS7 as head coach. And I think that this mentality occurs with other better teams also...

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

I can name several recent years in which we played superbly in January. Unfortunately, in none of those years did we continue to play well through February and March.

UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Welcome, FlagUp. At least you have your memories of the good ‘ole days, unlike poor HR. Anyone notice that Dartmouth has lost four of their last five, which has not helped out NPI either. I forget who our poster was that predicted that the Big Green would be exposed as a fraud soon enough, but...
