There's something funny about seeing Utica possibly having to travel to a high school rink to play Salve, then traveling to the Cooler... just for a chance to play at their own rink for the Frozen 4
Inaugural LEC playoff is set. Norwich locks up the first LEC regular season title with a SO W over Castleton, as Babson is season swept by NEC. Plymouth gets a major win against USM, which is enough to secure the #3 seed as the Huskies also fall to NEC. USM still holds on to host over UMB (both...
Final weekend of the regular season is here. Norwich still needs to clinch 1st and the 3rd - 6th seed are still undecided. Final seeding will likely be decided in New Hampshire, Castleton has one more chance to move up the standings, and UMB is looking at a final homestand to claim home ice...
Final weekend is now on tap with the regular season title and playoff positions still up in the air.
Clearing up the picture up top, Norwich comes out of a long weekend trip with wins against West Conn and Keene. West Conn has been improving each week and led into the 3rd, but can't do enough...
With the season winding down and a new team on the way, the MASCAC heads towards the playoffs with seeding still wide open.
Current rankings:
1. Fitchburg (9-1 MASCAC - 26 pts)
2. Anna Maria (8-1-1 MASCAC - 26 pts)
3. Westfield (7-2-1 - 22 pts)
4. Salem (5-4-1, 19 pts)
5. Worcester (2-6-2 - 10...
It's definitely been a good year starting out. I'd say the LEC has defied expectations with how competitive teams have been. Almost every game could've gone either way or had upset potential. Should be an exciting playoffs and will be an interesting off season to see how recruiting pans out...
Biggest weekend of hockey for the LEC is over and we have a lot of shakeups.
At the top, Norwich gets everything they could’ve asked for with wins over USM and Babson. Against USM, Norwich controls the scoring early and takes advantage of the PP to come out with a 6-3 win against the LEC’s #3...
The MASCAC finds its newest member as St. Joseph’s of Connecticut is announced as the newest affiliate member of the conference. USJ will bring the MASCAC up to 9 mens teams, and is one of a few new additions in recent years. Anna Maria and Rivier have joined in the last few years, as long time...
Definitely thinking about it... also depends on what I end up doing for the Super Bowl so we'll see. Did see they announced it as a white out night so should be a good atmosphere.
This weekend is looking like the most important weekend of the season for the LEC (excluding the playoffs).
Friday:
- USM #3 @ Norwich #1 - Top 3 battle that kicks off a season deciding weekend for Norwich and gives USM one of their last chances to push for a bye
- Babson #2 @ Castleton #5 -...
If Babson wins out their schedule, I could see them maybe getting an at-large if a team like Norwich or Plymouth beats them in the championship. With the SOS of Norwich compared to a team in the CNE or NESCAC I don't see them making it unless they win the LEC. Not sure how the exact math works...
Another weekend of LEC hockey and the playoff picture is starting to show.
Babson gets a huge win against a USM team that got the better of them early in the season. Late night host Jimmy Fallon takes the night off to notch a hat trick as Babson controls the ice and the power play. The Beavers...
It was definitely an improvement over last week (and Friday). Didn’t make it to the Castleton game, but the only reason it went to OT was Plymouth played sloppy and Castleton seemed to get under their skin. Plymouth got called for too many men early and a major off a face mask call. Should’ve...
Another weekend of LEC hockey down with a month of conference action left.
Babson gets two wins at home to hold on to 1st (with the tie breaker against Norwich). Friday, Babson controlled the ice for a 7-2 win over West Conn, before following it up with a 3-1 win over Keene. The Beaver’s now...
Tough game but happy to force a shootout against you guys. Plymouth had it on lock early and interrupts Norwich’s system as long as it’s a good night for the team. Was also trying to figure out the points, and think it it goes as a 2pt SO W for Norwich and a 1pt tie for Plymouth. Couldn’t find...
Being at Plymouth through the MASCAC years and seeing them play this season, playing consistently tougher teams is definitely exposing their weaknesses. The last few years, Plymouth notched some big OOC wins over schools like Babson, Platty, Trine (plus a tourney win vs SUNUAC champs Cortland)...
Plymouth absolutely fell apart and needs to reassess. On paper the team has so much potential… on the ice it’s spinning the roulette wheel. I wouldn’t say Russell is the problem coaching wise - he’s had a solid record and has built the program from a struggling ECAC/NEHC team playing 30 mins...
The battle for the top tightens with a new top 3 after this weekend.
Babson comes out of the weekend back on top. Taking a short in-state roadtrip, Babson opens up with a 4-1 W vs UMD before slugging it out against UMB on Saturday. Both went back and forth with Babson getting more shots on net...
Think at this point it’s fine that Utica is ranked now. Their OOC schedule is always tough and the team has the firepower to compete. That and they’ve rebounded well… but also against weaker teams. losing 5 games that early and staying ranked was a bit absurd, even if the losses were to Adrian...
