UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

I think it’s pretty obvious their success came in large part because of who they were playing with. If you’re on a line with Harrison Scott your numbers are going to look good. Someone can fact check me on this but I believe a lot of Poirier’s damage has come in the garbage games.

I don’t think the school wants anything to do with it at this point. They’re obviously in a tough spot financially and it’s a bad look if they start paying athletes while at the same time laying people off. I’m sure they would use the money for other priorities if given the chance. There needs...

Muscatelli as well was completely shot mentally. My theory is that they are pushed so hard that it elevates their game then they sort of go over the edge. Maine’s had a lot of great goaltending with Barr as coach, and it is probably the biggest factor in Maine’s success during his tenure, so...

Caught them on a bad weekend. This is a real solid performance by Maine. Even if they don’t get the result this is a big improvement on a lot of games this year.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Instead of a long post detailing Maine’s various deficiencies my question is where does Maine go from here(meaning next year)? In the old days I would think Maine is in an okay position with some decent younger players but who knows how many of them stick around. Providence is a good team and...

The States 2: States Rights for Me But Not for Thee

This article gives good insight to how Mainers think https://www.bangordailynews.com/2026/01/08/politics/elections/billy-bob-faulkingham-maine-senate-pushback-joam40zk0w/

I could see this weekend being similar to the BC weekend where Maine gets hammered one night and gets the rub of the green the other night. A split would be a great result considering how good Denver is and how bad Maine has historically been in Colorado.

    Another Book Thread

I bought a used book on Amazon over the summer and it was a personal copy of a well regarded post war mystery author(not the author of the book I purchased.) I had never heard of the guy until I got the book. I read a couple of his books and they were decent enough.

Gun control 2 : happy 25th anniversary of Columbine

It’s strange the shooter had ties to Obama. I doubt we hear much about that from mainstream media.

Gun control 2 : happy 25th anniversary of Columbine

The Brown investigation has to be one of the biggest cluster ****’s ever. It seems like everyone involved is completely incompetent. Hopefully the shooter doesn’t harm more people before the investigators pull their thumbs out.

I didn’t see much of the game but glad Maine took care of business. Hopefully a repeat performance tomorrow night.

And in much more recent times lost to LIU. This is another Holy Cross level team and even with the recent issues think Maine is going to take care of business.

So I might regret saying this 28 hours from now but I think Maine has a comfortable wins this weekend. This is not a very good team who has some wins over other bad teams. I get that Maine isn’t in the best form at the minute but still think they dominate Lindenwood.

I think it’s business as usual. We never get much for details as far as what is happening financially. You or someone else could file a FOIA request and maybe get some details that way.

I certainly question the wisdom of building a new basketball facility when there are two suitable facilities on campus and another not far from campus. It seems like more of a nice to have than need to have. Maybe the Alfonds would let that money be used to fix academic buildings? I’m sure...

They might be positive cash flow wise but using gaap or whatever accounting standard my guess is they run a pretty big loss.

Really happy Fowler got that moment. Maine stays at 40 in NPI so tonight didn’t hurt at all.

Absolutely brutal. Whatever happens in overtime doesn’t really matter that much.
