UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Maine caught a big break with Eiserman ringing one clean off the post right out of the box. He was wide open from the red line in.

Bit too level headed, you sure you belong around here mister?

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

You won't find me calling for Barr's head by any means. I imagine it can't be easy for him to feel like his message isn't resonating, especially compared to how well it seemed to the last couple years. Maybe those leadership groups did a better job in those seasons of keeping the locker room...

I think that one they actually called a hand pass, not offsides. Was close but they probably got it right. It would have been an egregious offsides call.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Without reading too much into the locker room dynamics, you can see Barr is feeling the pressure of the expectations from last season. Looks like he doesn't really have the answers at the moment which is concerning. Bit hard to get back to that level that with such a large roster turnover, even...

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

PC is white hot (won 7 of 8 since the start of the year, averaging 3.8 goals per game in that stretch) looking exactly like the team most people thought they'd be in the preseason. Leaman has them rolling so this one feels like a real measuring stick game for me to take Maine's chances of...

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Season ticket holder gifts announced and available for pickup starting on Saturday. Looks like replica Hockey East title rings this year. Pretty cool!

It could be level of teams Maine has played since the calendar flipped but JP is only averaging 2 SOG/gm, and 3 of those games he's had either 1 or 0 SOG. That's a big drop off compared to the 4.44 SOG/gm he averaged in the 18 games before the break. Poirier went off for 2 goals and 1 assist in...

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Not that I'm completely disregarding the NPI but this team should be far more focused on repeating as Hockey East champs to have a viable shot to make the NCAA tourney at this point. With all the opportunities this team has squandered like you pointed out, it feels like a complete pipe dream to...

    Never a doubt 😉

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Barr did not sound very happy in the post-game interview, but they gutted out a road win. They played with fire for sure but gutted out a road win. Looked ugly all night honestly. Not sure how many blocked shots they had but felt like a bunch, really helped Boija out.

Really nice effort by Peluso on that goal.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

I'm guessing Brian Elliott and Austin Elliott are the first father/son goalie combo Maine has ever played against.

It's kind of a shame he's miscast in the top six at the moment. Winning 60% of his draws is nice, but his overall play is probably better suited for a third line role at best. Think there is still some potential with him to grow into a productive piece down the middle which we desperately needed.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Agree the defense still needs work but I think Barr at least has three pairings he trusts. It's just a matter if the 2nd/3rd pairings show up on any given night. I don't think it's hyperbole to say that Peterson has easily been the best dman aside from Holt. He rates out surprisingly well on...

Looks like Barr is sticking with Boija. He needs to be lockdown from here on out.

UMaine 25-26: Marques My Word: Back to the Big Time

Frustrating period for sure. Alfie needs to have the team just practice ripping pucks glove side until Boija remembers how to use that thing.

Hopefully Maine starts on time and can get to Parsons early and often tonight.

Looks like Eduards Tralmaks made the 2026 Olympic team for Latvia. Kind of surprised he hasn't gotten a cup of coffee at the NHL level yet, but would love to see the Wings give him a look at some point down the stretch.
