UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

TSN broadcast was highlighting Austin Elliott's great season with the Knights tonight and said he got an invite to Leafs rookie camp and is "perhaps" hoping to start his pro career next season. No mention of his commitment whatsoever. Hoping they're just talking out of their a** or trying to...

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Does anyone have Lowell's updated 25-26 recruitment ranking after the Wakely and Gulley additions?

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Seems like it's shaping up to be another solid schedule. 2 vs. Western, 3 vs. UMass, the usual games against BU, BC and Maine, plus another tough matchup against Clarkson and I'm assuming another game or two against CCHA or NCHC based on how the Cactus Cup schedule shapes up. I believe last year...

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Thank you for the update, that makes a lot more sense. Upon seeing his 'commitment' I thought it was very much out of left field lol. Was trying to think of reasons why Lowell would commit to a kid that didn't even average 1 PPG in the OJHL 🙃

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

UMass Lowell has received a commitment from Kailin Chen of the OJHL's Pickering Panthers. 21 year old 5'9" left shot forward had a 12-32-44 line in 49 games for Pickering this season. Born in Beijing China, Chen has also represented his home country in many international competitions.

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Tsongas should have a couple of those dollar beer nights next year for anyone with a UML ID to keep the tradition going and get more students in the building. I'm tempted to contact Boswell and pitch the idea.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

UMass Lowell has received a commitment from Niagara University transfer Jay Ahearn. The left-shot forward had 19 goals and 20 assists in 36 games for the Purple Eagles last year and has 1 YOE remaining. Mike McMahon currently has Ahearn rated as the fifth-best forward in the portal.

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

I first assumed they were going as a package deal but that'll likely depend on whether the teams Scout has his eye on are opting into House. I don't think any of those schools would be willing to waste a roster spot on Roc unless they're really in love with Scout. Only one I can see moving down...

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Not sure how I feel about Scout being the first one in the portal. Not something I expected and feeling very uneasy about what's to come with other top players with 2 or 3 YOE remaining.

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

With 1 YOE remaining for Scout this was one that I didn't expect. Have to imagine they knew where they were going before they entered together.

Haven't seen anything on any platforms. Just holding my breath for when the portal opens for undergrads on Sunday.....

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Somehow it feels like we're right back to last season's team. The California tournament ended and everything immediately went to s***

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

I'd be curious to see if there was any significant difference in PP% between the two units over the course of the season. The unit with Buttazzoni, Delaney, and Nemec seemed to be doing well until Mirko and Libor got hurt.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

I don't think they will unless they need to. Especially BC and BU. Still going to get NTDP and high-end USHL guys to commit years before college, but if they have an immediate need to be filled they might pull an over-ager that doesn't have any more CHL availability. Very curious to see how the...

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Every other team just seems to have those few guys that can take over a game. For Northeastern it's the Williams line, UMass it's O'Hara and Suniev, BC we all know who it is (lol). Maine has Nadeau, Makar, Scott. So on and so forth. Not going to get too down in the dumps because this was a total...

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

It'll be nice to celebrate the seniors next Friday and it's nice to see the whole team battling to the very end, but at the end of the day it will go down as a very underwhelming class. Cole is the only one whose production has improved every single year. As the years have gone on it's also...

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Going to be watching Penn State, Quinnipiac, and Arizona State with a close eye next weekend. All only have two games left and they won't be easy. Ideally Penn State (somehow) gets swept at home vs. Minnesota, Quinnipiac splits with the north country teams, and Arizona State splits with Omaha...

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Feels like a recurring theme this season has been getting out-played in the third period of close games. Especially against the better Hockey East teams. That whole period you could just tell Providence was going to tie it. Thought they'd be able to take it to OT but oh well. At this point the...
