The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Yes, I think that for choosing their regional groupings the committee will put 6, whoever they are playing, at the 3 seed; 7 at the 2 seed; and so on -- and that the final teams into the tournament for the first round may well be shuffled around this way, assuming that they prioritize avoiding...
I agree with Crazy Dave's suggestion on the NPI predictor thread...
6 UConn vs Princeton (at 3 Penn State)
7 Quinnipiac vs NEWHA champ (Franklin Pierce, if current score holds?) (at 2 Wisconsin)
8 Yale vs UMD (at 1 Ohio State)
The groups of teams 1-3, 4-5, 6-9, and 10-12 are viewed as "bands,"...
Quinnipiac takes the championship 5-1 against Yale. A hard-fought game but one that unfortunately for them Yale was chasing for much of it. Quinnipiac goaltender Felicia Frank was (deservedly imo) named MVP of the ECAC tournament.
Currently Quinnipiac is 7, Yale 8, and Princeton 9 in the NPI...
Northeastern could pass Minnesota for 4th seed if they beat UConn tomorrow. I wonder whether Northeastern would host their NCAA game at BU's Walter Brown Arena if so, in the post-Matthews era.
Thanks for this work, Grant! I am not sure whether you caught this on the WCHA playoffs thread, but the USCHO box score was (initially) incorrect and UMD lost in OT yesterday. The game was really 2-1 Mankato. So, they are still playing for the series today.
I looked into this about the team that sat out the league semis, and it seems to have been Harvard in 2021-22. They won the ECAC regular season title, then lost to Princeton in a quarterfinal series going to 3 games.
Then in the NCAA tournament, Harvard still got in but lost in the opening...
Minneapolis has a game; Duluth wrapped up now (I believe). Looks like CollegeHockeyNews has something incorrect for their series continuing, if UMD did sweep... There are two series still going in the ECAC.
A big upset on Friday with Union taking down Clarkson in regulation 2-1. The quarterfinal field now, for best of three:
(Seed 12.) Union at (1.) Yale
(8) Harvard at (2) Princeton
(7) Brown at (3) Quinnipiac
(6) Colgate at (4) Cornell
This should be a good one for the Cornell-Colgate travel...
There is a title share at 1st place after this concluding ECAC weekend (but no ties in points for the rest of the standings)!
1-t. Yale (46 pts)
1-t. Princeton (46)
3. Quinnipiac (45)
4. Cornell (42.5) (top 4 teams taking a bye in the first round of playoffs)
5. Clarkson (40)
6. Colgate (39.5)...
The final weeekend of ECAC games coming up!
Harvard & Dartmouth at RPI & Union
Yale & Brown at Princeton & Quinnipiac
Colgate & Cornell at Clarkson & St. Lawrence
Standings are close:
1. Princeton, 44 pts
2. Yale, 42
3. Quinnipiac, 40
4-t. Brown, 38
4-t. Clarkson, 38
6. Cornell, 37.5
7...
I have to respectfully disagree; I think that Penn State has been dominant in their conference and has some impressive non-conference wins. They won against Cornell x2, home and road, and had a split with Northeastern. Cornell has moved a bit downward in NPI, but Northeastern is still fifth. #4...
This weekend:
Quinnipiac & Princeton at Clarkson & St. Lawrence
Harvard & Dartmouth at Colgate & Cornell
Yale & Brown at RPI & Union
Quinnipiac is in the lead in the standings, with Princeton and Clarkson close behind, tied for second! Interesting slate of games.
Yes you get 1.5 points for a tie -- even though a shootout result eventually counts as one of the tiebreakers for the standings. Though confusing, it does largely mirror the way the NPI is done nationally, it sounds like.
Dartmouth seems to still rely on their goaltending a lot. They have been...
