The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
It was 20 seconds after he blew the empty netter. It was still in his head and didn't play D. Unfortunately, playing tomorrow is on him. He hasn't scored a goal in forever, maybe he'll atone tomorrow.
The biggest red flag to me regarding Hastings is that there has factually been no improvement in this team over the season. We are making the same mistakes we made on day one, and making them on a regular basis. There seems to be no accountability. Look at what Penn State did this year to turn...
Did the coaching staff really believe that the goalie trio we have would lead us to the NCAA Tournament? I know they get hung out to dry too often, but they still give up goals on routine shots.
They all should be embarrassed by this, no more than Coach Mike Hastings. This is an unacceptable 'effort' after what I'm sure was a week where everyone was great with their dailies.
Like last year, I'd like Finley to stay if he's fully on board with the program. If he's not, it would be better for all concerned if he moves on. His lack of production recently isn't as concerning to me as the style of play I've been seeing. His seems to be playing a bit too much of his own...
I agree about Dexheimer and Hensler. Knox seemed good in limited work. Phelan has been beaten several times when he's had to turn from fronting his man and pivoting to skate with him. He's been noticeably slow on that pivot and his man gains position. He's also made some agregious breakout...
Please assure me that we'll have the ability to keep a few more pucks out of the net next year. I'm not being a smart a**, the defensive effort has lacked this year. How's that side looking?
It will be interest to see if the inclusion of CHL players will provide enough talent to fill the rosters with competitive talent more equitably throughout D1 hockey. Even the top programs can only take on so many players.
Pre portal, college staffs were on planes, trains, and automobiles across North America competing for talent across the continent. Once signed, they were committed to your institution, and could transfer out with the loss of a year of eligibility. If there was a real issue you could move on...
The portal can be used as leverage by players. If you sit me, I will go. When teams are riding high, that's less of a threat since you can fill that spot as players may be lining up to go to the places you mention. Unfortunately, as you have detailed, at this point we aren't a highly regarded...
