The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Salve is much better than they are getting credit for here. If you think Norwich is going to walk into Salve Regina and trounce them then I believe you will be surprised. This isn't some MASCAC AQ.
This is nonsense. They haven't missed a NCAA tournament since 2015. I am sure the financial packages help, but they aren't building all star teams with the best players available. Go through their roster and look at the players junior resumes, nothing eye popping. They simply play their system...
I would not sleep on Salve. Their schedule was bad (Norwich's wasn't much better), but they are very capable of stringing together a couple of wins especially with what seems like all of D3 questioning them being there in the first place.
They are undoubtedly the favorite. But let’s not act like they are unbeatable. Anything can happen in a one game elimination tournament. They haven’t exactly played a ringer of a schedule.
It's impossible to say how the NPI reacts at this point. Hypothetically Aurora should be ahead of Utica if both teams were to lose tonight, but who knows. Do Utica and Aurora fall below Adrian with losses? If that's the case and there are no surprises in the NESCAC or SUNY, Adrian would get the...
Salve and the NESCAC performing so well OOC threw a wrench into the formula. Last year was the first year using NPI and there were no issues about the ranking. The final 4 consisted of 4 of the top 5 NPI teams going into the tournament.
The eye test doesn't matter. Paying any attention to the USCHO or D3 Hockey rankings is a waste of your time. I do agree the NPI is flawed but people preached transparency for years and that is exactly what we have with the NPI. I believe teams are discovering that playing a gauntlet schedule...
There is math that can justify it, it’s the NPI. Not that I agree with it, it is clear this year that no bad losses > beating good teams. This also doesn’t take into effect Aurora’s bottom 50% sos and Utica’s top 10 sos.
Salve is ahead of SNC because they have less bad losses. Not very hard to...
I can agree the west got the short end of the stick this year. The NESCAC SOS is very overvalued.
On another note, the difference in NPI between #1Hobart and #2 Hamilton is the same as #2 Hamilton and #31 Wilkes...
I think we will see a lot more USHL players and D1 transfers than CHL players. I don’t think many CHL players will waste their time with D3 when they can stay at home and play USports for free.
Babson's schedule is bad. Geneseo gets the worst of it, 17 SOS with the 2nd highest QWB in the nation and will have to win their conference tournament to get in.
They are in trouble if they lose and 2 or more of the following happen.
1. Hobart losing
2. Someone other than UNE/Endicott winning the CNE
3. Someone other than Hamilton/Bowdoin winning the NESCAC
4. Someone other than Adrian/Aurora winning the NCHA
1 and 2 seem unlikely. Middlebury and Tufts...
