I just spoke with my friend Bonnie Tholl, head softball coach at U of M and she told me women's ice hockey at Michigan is definitely inching closer and wouldn't be surprised if an announcement would be coming sooner than later!
As far as the same two teams making the finals, yes they have talent but you need to factor in the level of coaching as the trump card. I don't understand how you don't see the level of talent out there. You have to recruit a decent roster and coach them up.
We do well at out home games but we only seat around 650 but the support of the students is lacking at times. They get in free and to entice them they'll have a promo offering something cool for the first 100 through the doors but many grab it and leave.
Good question! I wonder if the plans for the new arena include the necessary locker rooms and amenities for a potential women's program? It would be nice if they have that foresight or plan for the eventual possibility.
As of last season NIL has had no impact at Ohio State where Malachino transferred to. The only money our girls received was from the sale of trading cards and jerseys with their names on them which basically amounted to pennies.

In regards to getting more girls into hockey and properly developed many regions don't have rinks and high school teams. In Ohio there's not a lot of rinks, most are in or near the major cities with a few exceptions. I know the ones in central Ohio are heavily booked with men's leagues, sled...
From what MSU's AD told me at the moment women's hockey is not currently on the table there but according to the news it is moving forward at UM. If you didn't see the story on the other thread I started I'm posting it here too...
