    Minnesota Women's Hockey 2025-26

I give Heise some extra credit for being a player on teams where the lines weren't necessarily planned around her. She spent much of her career playing with Boreen and Skaja, decent players, but not elite. She had the ability to make others better. She didn't play in as many big games as some...

The D were harder for me to compare to a forward. I erred on the conservative side, and only put the two that I was certain about. With C. Kennedy, Curtin, Ramsey, and Schleper, it's safe to say that I'm missing some. She is certainly tops of the list of best Gopher hockey players who married...

    Minnesota Women's Hockey 2025-26

Speaking of Dan Hamann, he has said multiple times over the last year or so that Abbey Murphy was the best Gopher player that he has watched in his years being the voice of the Gophers. I understand why he says this, as especially as a finisher, she is a great talent. The best Gopher I've seen...

I get that UW and tOSU are an intimidating duo at the top of the league, but the home team can barely see them anymore as they disappear in the distance.

Maybe they had an agreement that MJ would experiment with her as a D, but once it reached the win-or-go-home stage, the time for experimenting was over.

And the oft-maligned HEA has the best winning percentage thus far in the tourney. Meanwhile, the WCHA is down there with NEWHA.

Who set up the rules and process? The institutions. The way it works is kind of like if a student had to drop out of one university before they could investigate transfering to another one. I know that I wouldn't like it if I couldn't go shop for a new house until I had listed my current house.

Thanks for the correction! I see that they did fix it after the fact.

Looks like Yale stayed out of the box in shutting out UMD. That's likely one of the key things they'll have to do in order to have success against tOSU.

I think the fanbase has grown accustomed to not having any problems, so they invent some. Otherwise, all they would have to complain about are a favorite parking lot being available, the band not showing up, or WCHA refs being -- well, WCHA refs.

    Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

It has been interesting to me over the years how Wisconsin's D could contribute offensively without sacrificing that much defensively. Teams like BC would have D that were constantly joining the rush. That was great when they played overmatched teams in their league, and the Eagles capitalized...

    Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2025-2026

This is a great way to look at it, especially if people consider it thoughtfully, and concede that if she was as bad as some claim at D, then MJ would never, ever let her line up there. One question about her as an F ... we don't talk about it that much, but how is the defensive side of her...

    Patty Kazmaier 2026

I wouldn't have had a problem with either one of them. I think they are all deserving, and not everyone can get recognition. But in a sport that gets so little recognition, I don't want to be a wet blanket who comes along after a highlight of someone's career and trash them. From what I saw of...

Most of the "stories" we read here don't even contain that level of specificity. Instead, it's a lot of, "Ha, ha, ha! I learned something really important, but I can't tell anyone ... and you do know that I'm important, too, right?"

If you consider impact on the sport, Janecke is a great choice. She has aided PSU in being a bigger factor, getting them to the NCAA Tournament multiple times, with a realistic shot at a first Frozen Four. This award has been kind to the Badgers. Harvey's teammates can be there to watch her get...

    WCHA Tournament

It seems like home ice has figured prominently in the tOSU and UMD results. I agree on Gascon, and Tia Chan for UConn is also legit. One comment on the tournament recognitions. My guess is that they asked for ballots early, and so people say MOP winner is person who scores the GWG. But Jordan...
