I shut it off at the 2 minute mark of P3, woke up to find I missed all the good stuff. There's definitely some magic with this group they got. Don't know if anyone else read from Mark Divver's notes a few days ago but he mentioned the connection of Palmer and Parsons. If that's what it takes...
I can't imagine them winning all the remaining games, but momentum is definitely on their side. If they're going to lose at all, Maine and UConn are the two that would hurt them in the NPI the least. Out of all their wins(excluding Quinnipiac exh.) their lowest goal total was 2, which only...
This year is definitely much more of a team approach. As skilled and as fun as they are to watch, Connelly and Berard needed the puck to make things happen. Exciting, yes, but also frustrating when they couldn't deliver on all that puck possession. Now you have a team playing a team game and...
On a sidenote, major penalties... thought there were some questionable calls over the season, but I see Malinoski has only been assessed two penalties over the entire season. One a minor at CC and the other the ejection vs. BC. For the college game that's remarkable discipline to be able to stay...
100% agree. Parsons got thrown into the fire and has saved their season. In short time he already has two more shutouts in half the games played by Phil. Whether Parsons or the Alaska defeat being a wake-up call they're a completely different, and more dangerous, team now. Need to keep their...
I wonder if PC played Michigan later in the year how they would fare against them. It was a good test for them up front to see how the new players fit in, finding out which players click with which linemates. Some ugly losses along the way - if you wipe out the St Thomas tie, Alaska blowout, CC...
Another excellent weekend of PC hockey. They survived January without going on their usual lengthy losing streak. Up to 7 in the NPI after tonight (With Q-piac losing to UConn). Sitting alone in first place in HE.
A fairly favorable schedule for PC the rest of the way - 1 w/Maine, 3 w/UNH, 3...
C-roll, thanks for the post. I think only last season had I heard about an age minimum for CHL players with the AHL, makes sense when they would just get sent back to juniors so it's something I'll be following if I can learn something from it.
I might be wrong but wouldn't McQueen still not be eligible to play AHL next year if he doesn't make the Ducks roster? I always assumed Roger would be a two year guy because of his age but like you said, it's up to Anaheim.
BU is such a strange team this year. Overhyped from the start? Without Boisvert I like our chances a bit better - PC has all the momentum right now and just need to keep it simple. Shut down the Cole's seems like a successful gameplan.
Speaking on the subject of in-game commentary, somebody get Colby Cohen some better glasses so he can stop calling him "Kiv-e-ola". There's always one guy. Last year during a broadcast one guy kept calling him Svedberg. At least Buccigross got all the names right from what I could tell.
A...
No complaints out of this weekend other than that repeated stick shots to the back of the neck of the fallen PC player right in front of the ref. Think he got five of 'em in without a whistle while play was active.
I was definitely on the concerned side about PC's future in net with Parsons' play against Alaska but almost halfway through their most difficult stretch of conference games, he's got them 3-0. Maybe this is the year they break out of that second half collapse.
I like the news of them getting Simpson as backup for Parsons at this time. Considering Michigan's #1 just got hurt, too, over the weekend, good timing for PC to add a goalie before he could've been scooped up elsewhere.
First weekend sweep since....? I really think losing Kale and Machu last Saturday hurt the team on-ice more than I'd have imagined. They got them back and there's the results. But what's up with Maine this year? I've barely followed them so I don't know why they seem to be down. They reminded me...
Seems confirmed we're going to see Parsons get his first (and second?) start of the season this weekend. Really sucks. Phil has taken a lot of punishment over four years having opponents often running over him. Any reasons given why Machu and Kale missed Saturday's game? Having them out seemed...
Not to jinx it but that's several games now without surrendering a SHG. The record may not reflect it but that's an improvement in game planning. Been a few mistakes leading to odd man rush but able to get back into the play, or rely on Phil to come up big with the saves. Right now, Phil's SV%...
And it's not just him getting better each game, but elevating the play of his linemates too. Comparing him to Connelly of last year just isn't fair. One guy needed the puck on his stick often while the other is constantly aware of where his teammates are to pass off to them when the shot isn't...
When notable, unbiased hockey guys say that the refs made the wrong call, you know how bad the officiating is. Between the massive amount of excess calls last weekend, killing the pace of games besides those involving PC, it's time to stop protecting subpar officiating that impacts just about...
