The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
LOL. Quite the contrary. They did okay, bought into Asheville before the real estate boom, but then suffered badly with the 2008 recession/crash.
So, at this point, sitting on a semi treasure trove of a house, but otherwise, simple making ends meet.
Shell companies or not, Aston Martin the car company has nothing to do with Aston Martin the F1 team.
Mercedes F1 is 1/3 owned by Mercedes the car company, 1/3 owned by a main sponsor, Ineos, and 1/3 owned by Toto Wolff.
Ferrari F1 of course is 100% owned by Ferrari the car company (which...
This is what Chris Medland wrote on Racer:
The active aerodynamics are perhaps the biggest change from a car perspective, with two separate modes simply called "Straight Mode" and "Corner Mode."
Corner Mode is effectively the car in its normal, full-downforce state, allowing maximum...
I think the clarity on this has been like mud.
The most recent thing I read is indeed the one second following rule. As for where on the track, I haven't been able to figure it out either.
That is true. It was a crazy place.
Here is an article I wrote back when it was closing: https://www.uscho.com/2006/01/30/romney-remembered
You can't make this s--- up... :D
I'm not butthurt about anything. Heck, I don't even live in Buffalo. I knew Buffalo was not going to get it again after the second time was disappointing. Minnesota was the obvious pick this time around.
Heck, Buffalo wasn't even supposed to get it that second time. Pittsburgh was going to...
Not that I know the actual numbers, but I still think MN will get the second highest overall attendance for an American host. It's Minnesota after all. I'm figuring Buffalo the first time was the highest. And I'm guessing the Grand Forks host didn't have NHL capacity arenas. And Boston...
No doubt they have cut us from travel destinations. Just look at Las Vegas, whose decline is partially due to Canadians staying away.
I just don't think it's the difference maker for the WJC.
Those are excellent points, and I do know now that you remind me, that Canadian travel packages to Europe have become more popular.
But how many of those type of travelers are there to actually fill up an arena? Most Canadians who traveled to Grand Forks or Buffalo, went back and forth, and...
LOL
But I have the evidence to back it up. No WJ tournament in the USA, outside of one (out of two) in Buffalo and one in Grand Forks (being close to Winnipeg), ever did well with attendance. And they all occurred in various political climates.
The Twin Cities is too far from the Canadian...
I used to work right next to a bridge like this. They finally put up very high fencing. It cut it down quite a bit. But, there were still ways near the end to climb around it, if one was motivated.
