The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Wisconsin interested in Brown goalie Lawton Zacher https://x.com/MarkDivver/status/1907084693784146061
2.48 / .917 this season, 2 years of eligibility left.
A few portal updates as I've been paying attention the past two days.
First, as of last 5-10 minutes, both Mehlenbacher and Gramme are in the portal. No real surprise there, and personally I think both could succeed at smaller schools in different conferences, and I hope they do.
Some other...
In other news, transfer portal opens tomorrow. Any predictions for who leaves? The team will need to move on from at least a couple of forwards to meet next years roster limits.
I agree and don't think other schools are currently spending tons on hockey/ more than UW. Also think this is a good time to mention that even in a down year, the KC averaged over 10,000 fans per game (per USCHO attendance stats), second highest in the nation. I know that's not the only source...
Anything can happen of course, but I think there's a lot of players who want to be here. There's Finley, Dexheimer, and the whole crew who played for Madison Capitols back in juniors, all of those guys seem really invested in Wisconsin even with this year's disappointing season. And Tassy and...
Quinn Finley intends to return for his junior year, per Todd Milewski. Also noticed Mike Hastings said the team bringing in 8 freshman next fall, so I'm guessing that means Bruno Idzan plans on enrolling for the fall. The 8th freshman could also be Defenseman John Stout, but I think Idzan is...
I do agree with your points, though, especially that the high number of shots we took didn't exactly correspond to high quality scoring chances. I felt like both 23-24 and this season the team tended to throw a lot of pucks on net, but in 23-24 we had guys such as Stramel, Bantle, and a healthy...
I agree, and am not disagreeing that losing Fink stinks in retrospect. However, that's just what happens when you switch coaches: players leave. There's a lot of current and future contributors who we wouldn't have if not for Hastings, and I think it tends to even out in the end.
Who are the best few players in all of the CHL committed to NCAA schools? I am a Wisconsin fan and definitely excited about Oliver Tulk, Daniel Hauser, and Blake Montgomery but not sure where they stack up compared to other top commits. Any insight is appreciated.
Man, what a disappointing season. Think time will tell whether its a coaching or player issue, or likely just a bit of both. Coaches need to make sure we stop losing bad nonconference games and just clean up some of the play in general. On the player side we need more impact forwards and deeper...
Another weird aspect of this weekend is that the games are at Nationwide Arena in downtown Columbus instead of on the Ohio State campus. There's very little if any home ice advantage for OSU, attendance was a mere 1500, and feels like even less than that considering the arena fits 20,000.
There's a big part of me that believes Montgomery will be the best recruit we do bring in; I know Izdan and Tulk have been discussed more as of late on this thread. Montgomery has scored less ppg than Izdan/Tulk, but is playing in a better league, on a far better team with enough depth that...
Also I think it's worth mentioning that Lukas Zajic was the USHL forward of the week last week with the USNTDP 17's. 4g 3a in two games, with the 3g and 3a in the second game. We won't likely see him in Madison until fall of 2026 but good to see some talent on the horizon nonetheless.
Assuming the roster construction shakes out such that they can bring in one or two transfer forwards, I would love to see Hastings and co look towards better conferences and schools for transfers. If we could theoretically get a player from a middle tier Hockey East or NCHC team who has...
I agree that it's too bad that certain players may be left behind, but it is probably necessary. One of my largest (and only) issues with Hastings and coaching staff is that it feels they've brought in some forwards who really just can't contribute offensively at the B10 level of play. I'm...
Re: recruits
Hauser, Osburn, Brink, Deering, Zelenov, Tulk, and Montgomery have been announced as signed recruits for next year and can't easily decommit. I haven't heard any confirmation that Stout is signed for 25-26, but if anyone knows the situation feel free to share.
Re: McIntosh...
On this note, the numbers breakdown is interesting - Laatsch, Kehrer, Mosley, Laskosky, Lindmark and Scarfone all gone. We're bringing in 5 forwards, 1 defender, and 1 goalie, which would put us 1 player over the roster limit of 26 (I think? not entirely sure of the rules) with 17 forwards and...
Re: goaltending
I agree that Scarfone has been mediocre this season. To me one of the stark differences I've seen between this season and last season is that Scarfone hasn't been too much of a difference maker in games. Last year McClellan was constantly making huge saves to keep us in games...
