The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
The breakdowns were one thing, but from that last interview with Knott on the radio, he was clear that they had some chemistry issues the second half of the first season and said that was gone this year. He also knew their recruiting had to change from MSU to UW. I was optimistic after hearing...
I saw an article from their beat writer Schlossman a couple weeks ago about the state of the program. It's very similar to UW Football and firing of Chryst. It can go either way and is a huge gamble.
This thread on x is interesting. https://x.com/BadgerWBBFan/status/1902769423586386116
$2million to spread between Volleyball, Women's hockey and Men's hockey (with $0 for Women's BB) isn't going to cut it IMO. Men's hockey will fall behind in that scenario, IMO. maybe they can still get...
Extensive list and it makes a lot of sense to me.
I agree with you on many points, particularly the hating on Finner. He shows that offensive players can be successful and a find a way on Hastings teams. And they will learn the 200' game (if they are willing) and this prepares them for NHL...
I have to take a little issue here. They had so many injuries, taking away playing time was a limited option, particularly on the defensive side. So, the coaches were kind of stuck playing the guys that were healthy, even if they weren't playing great or making errors. I think the recruiting...
He definitely talked about that but to me most notably, he talked about the recruits they are going after. He mentioned they know they are different than when they were at Mankato and recognize they need guys that can put the puck in the net. I think that gave me a sense of optimism they know...
Hastings presser from today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXl5ePwteYY
He got a couple of tough questions that he used his typical cliche's to answer. I know we aren't going to get detail, but I think he could open up a bit more on the disappointing season.
You are correct that the other than Denver, the high draft pick / high octane teams have not had NCAA championship success recently and why I thought Hastings would be successful in the big7. I suspect that streak gets broken this year, but then again maybe a team like Western Michigan, etc...
One other thing. Players from USNTDP and their future colleges:
Denver 3
Minnesota 3
BU 3
Michigan 3
Notre Dame 2
Harvard 2
Nodak 2
CC 1
BC 1
ASU 1
Wisconsin 0
Edit: Wisconsin does have one recruit on the U17 USNTDP roster (Lukas Zajic).
I watched nearly every game. The shots the Badgers take are low percentage for a majority. The quality of opponent shots are way better. Some of that is related to poor defense, and silly defensive zone turnovers, but the point remains. And that d-zone turnover issue not been cleaned up...
They did have a ton of injuries this year, particularly at defense, which obviously affects the backend. We knew the scoring was going to be tougher with who they lost. But the offensive struggles were way worse than I expected. Goalie play had been lacking. So in some respects they were...
I’m not sure I agree with either statement.
They backed into the playoffs last year and were not good when it mattered (7-8-2 to end the season). Couple that with the record this year and it’s been a train wreck other than the first half of last year. Hastings hasn’t had to compete in the big7...
It’s been a rough year and this is another terrible result. I’m having doubts Hastings is the guy. I was his biggest fan and excited to have him come to Wisconsin. Now he’s had two years where they have played their worst at end of the year and this year his first losing season as a coach...
