The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
I wouldn't be surprised if Aurora might have difficulty hosting even if they were fortunate enough to advance. The rink they play at is suitable, but it's a busy facility and they are not the primary tenant (USHL's Chicago Steel.)
Edit: Yes, it looks like the Steel host a series that weekend.
5 teams in the west, with SNC and Gustavus playing in a Quarterfinal and Aurora awaiting the winner of EauClaire and Trine in another Quarter? I like your style!
Another line of thought: The only fair way to run this thing is to limit participation to conference playoff champions only. If a team cannot even win their own conference tournament, what makes them think they deserve an opportunity to be more?
Oswego beat SNC and Middlebury in Superior that year. Really thought that was going to be the first Championship for SNC - even though betting against Middlebury in that era was a fools errand.
Neumann was 11-9 at one point during their national championship season in '08-'09. The team they beat in the championship game that year was Gustavus, who finished 19-11. Neither of those teams would've gotten berths without the AQ.
Edit: the ECAC-W may not even have had an AQ that year, the...
I'd wager Fish's two least favorite movies of all-time are "Hooisers" and "Miracle"?
The USSR's body of work over the '79-'80 hockey season was far more impressive than the USA's. They should be the gold medalists.
Teams play 25 regular season games, not 22. And if a team went winless in the regular season, they likely (depending on conference) wouldn’t even make their post season playoffs for the opportunity to earn the AQ.
After 130 minutes of hockey, UWEC defeats Point on a penalty shot (right call - and I actually think EC probably scored on the play that led to it) to advance to face River Falls in the WIAC final.
Hmmm, I must be confused. Maybe it was the mid-90’s but I swear I remember a time when there were 3 points awarded in every game: 3 for a regulation win, 2 for an overtime win, 1 for an overtime loss. The two game and a mini format was first team to 4 point on the weekend advances. I realize...
I guess I don't understand why/when the NCHA changed their 2 plus a mini-game format for the quaterfinal round of the conference playoffs. Concordia should've had to win last night in regulation to force a mini.
It seems like nobody knew what was going on in that OT (5x5? 3x3? 5 minutes? 20...
One of the ongoing debates on this forum has to do with the D3 semifinals and championship being hosted at campus sites vs larger, neutral, pre-determined venues. There are pluses and minuses to both. The big concern with campus sites is that everyone who would like to attend would not be able...
