The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
2022-23: Murphy leads the WCHA in penalty minutes, with 59 minutes; Simms 18th, with 25 minutes ( while playing two more games)
2023-24: Murphy leads the WCHA in penalty minutes, with 118 minutes (no, that is not a typo); Simms 20th, with 24 minutes
2024-25: Murphy leads the WCHA in penalty...
No idea what that "Wisconsin" part is supposed to mean.
The only "fifth year" any Wisconsin player is getting comes under the same rules that apply to all (non-football) NCAA athletes: "red shirt" years; medical hardship years; and for one current Badger, the old 'Olympic centralization' rules...
As I said, we've all seen challenges issued "mid-period". The odd circumstance here is that the challenge was issued after the period had otherwise come to an end. I don't see why that would make any difference, but..,
We've all seen instances mid-period when to doesn't 'reset' the clock. My only question is if there is some exception when it comes, as it did, at the end of a period. I don't see why it would, but Robert Ludwig has been at this a long, long time.
Can anyone tell me if it is normal to 'roll back the game clock' after a successful challenge for head contact, like they did at the end of the second period? Why not just go to the third period with the five minute power play starting off at 20:00 on the clock.
The weekend before against Duluth, Ohio State had only 13 skaters. In between then and the series against Wisconsin, they got Sara Swiderski back from injury.
More Wisconsin presence at the women's tournament. LOL
The guy doing the play-by-play of the Canada-Germany game is a guy named Chris Vosters, who does volleyball for BTN (and probably other stuff), and is a UW grad. Not my favorite BTN volleyball announcer, is doing a passable job even though...
Maybe because the #5 team, immediately behind #4 Penn State, has a loss to the #29 team (as well as a loss to Penn State head-to-head).
And the #6 team has a loss to the #41 team, the #26 team, and two losses to the #5 team.
Etc, etc, etc.
Home ice seems to be a pretty significant factor in the WCHA. And while the Gophers have scored more this year than Ohio State, they've also given up more goals. Ohio wasn't/isn't a big favorite, but they're a favorite at home vs Minnesota.
As for short bench, Ohio had/has 14 skaters, Minnesota...
With Czechia being eliminated today, I wonder what Sapovalivova will do.
It's nine days until the closing ceremonies, and while I certainly don't begrudge an athlete wanting to take part in them, nine days hanging around Milan seems like a long time. With Prague being only 500 miles from...
I googled ["miracle on ice" game tape-delayed Boston] to see if anyone had anything to say about it being live in the Boston area. Maybe the most relevant article is an AP article on the web site of WHDH TV in Boston. Plenty about the game airing on tape-delay, and nothing about Boston being any...
I just finished watching the Netflix documentary. A couple 'notes' that came to mind:
- Only the rare glimpse of defenseman Bobby Suter (the 'other player' from Madison and UW). He must have been doing his job well. LOL
- The segments interviewing Mark Johnson at the LaBahn Arena in Madison...
Minnesota to date has scored 109 goals in conference games. 41 of them by players away at the Olympics, leaving 68 "at home" to play this weekend.
Ohio State to date has scored 97 goals in conference games. 41 of them by players away at the Olympics, leaving 56 "at home" to play this weekend...
