    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

(Well, if you've a decent recruit, you wouldn't be at MCLA, would you? Guess you alluded to the obvious fact that better players tend to go to more successful programs...) But, more to the point, why should a bottom-feeder such as MCLA even be allowed a shot at the NC, when it's proven itself...

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

There you go, elbow. Such a thing is absolutely a (remote) possibility under the current system. You make a perfectly logical comment, but prepare to field a few idiotic retorts as a result.

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

Huh? So a team that could go 0-22 in the RS should be gifted a berth, just via winning 3 games ? Sooooo dumb.

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

Russ, I'm heartbroken that you and "we" -whomever "we" are- have forsaken me. i'll probably toss and turn all night as a result. Cry on my pillow. etc. But, if you think that it's at all equitable that a #80 should even be within a country mile of the championship, you're certifiably insane, or...

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

I'd prefer that entire that entire NCAA field be chosen on the basis of a decent metric such as the murky NPI (or, better still, the best statically available metric, the KRACH, regardless of conference affiliation) but people on here will object for illogical reasons. But, yeah, if AQ's must...

UVM Catamounts, 2024-25 Season, Does Anyone Care Anymore?

I don't see UVM advancing far, but it won't stun me if they do. Ask any Maine fan who saw them over the weekend. VT is well-coached, has decent talent, and plays hard. What UVM needs is just a couple of snipers, and there you go.

University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Pretty much what you said. Sure, Maine plays a defense-first style, but it has a Hell of a lot more offensive talent than it ever had after Red ran out of Tim's recruits. I'm really not sure how a long-time Maine fan could complain about this team, which is looking at a #1 seed. That...

2025 Bracketology: The Road to Utica!

Fitchburg has no business getting a bid, obviously, but I like this bracket, if only due to the fact that Utica looks to have the easiest road to the FF of all. Still, none of us know how the D-3 mafia might tweak it, if it can. Is the NPI is 100% verifiable, or not? Don't know, but it smells...

Utica University 2024-25 - Retooled and Reloaded

That was my assumption as well, but the NPI shit is opaque, and probably for a reason... If the NCAA wanted the best available metric, they would have employed the KRACH, but they were likely worried about having some 'splaining to do once the seeds and sites were trotted-out. Intentional...

Utica University 2024-25 - Retooled and Reloaded

In light of the current NPI rankings, do you think that #6 Genny can leap-frog #4 Utica with a win on Saturday? (I miss the PW in D-3. I could've used the predictor function to answer my own question... But the NCAA had to get its grubby little hands on a perfectly OK metric... Go figger.)

Yup. And isn't that a perfect indictment of the ridiculous conference-tourny AQ idiocy?

Utica University 2024-25 - Retooled and Reloaded

Wasn't expecting that, Shabby. They have an excellent 1st line and have beaten Geneseo and tied UU this season... (But I'll take it. ;) ) Should be a good one v. Genny at The Aud on Saturday.

That's always been my idea of a reasonable compromise on the issue, too.

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

Makes a Hell of a lot more sense than gifting AQ's. The larger body of work ought to carry more weight, don't you agree?

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

. And it won't matter. Hell, PSU was 19th in the rankings anyway. MCLA, whoever that is, will almost certainly just waste some space, going forward.

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

Holy shit! Now that conference's AQ's are something like 1-27 in the recent past. But they downed mighty Cortland! "Outstanding!", to quote Robert Duval.

    2025 Conference Tournament Mega-Thread

Did Vermont even score a goal in regulation? Maybe one or two. ...Which would have made a more sense. Anything can happen in a bullshit one-off tournament. Does the regular season - with its much greater depth of data to process- mean nothing to you? So, let's just condense the entire season...

The was a fun read, thanks. (WTH haven't I noticed that before..?)

University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Pretty close to my take, but Albin has been the 1st star (IMO) in nearly every effing Maine game this season. Frankie and Taylor both shined tonight, but this team -as hard as it plays- would be on the bubble right now without Boija, no reasonable doubt about that.

University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

I ran the numbers as well I could. Seems to me that sweeping VT should seal the deal, as far as the 2nd seed goes. It's complicated. Guess that the bottom line is simply this: win, or at least get a point in every game. Oughta work.
