The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
I happen to think Boija should have been first team. This isn't a slight at all to Fowler, who is an excellent goalie, and if I took my blue glasses off I could be convinced of Fowler being worthy of first team over Boija. But for it to be unanimous I found very eyebrow raising. I'm a huge fan...
So, not to be taking over your thread, but if I may offer my thoughts, genuinely in good faith and not intending to troll...
When I look at UNH Hockey in 2025, I see Gendron-era Maine written all over it. A coach with a low ceiling, connected to the glory years, sufficient but not spectacular...
I do remember him coming out at public skate and stick and puck back in the day, and as you said he was dominant even in goalie skates. Cedric Lacroix also used to make appearances along with McGovern as well.
From what I heard from people back then (my freshman year being the year after he left) Romeo and Red both couldn't stand each other and it was well known, which is what led him to transfer.
This is what I was going to suggest. The hockey media guide is very detailed and has a lot of historical information; it's been a good source for someone like me who's a bit younger to learn of some history of the program.
No quit in these guys. A good tie as was said, and Maine got better as it went, especially in the third; you could tell they came out with urgency to start the last frame.
Also was not a fan of Mercuri throwing a high elbow right at the horn to end overtime, forget who it was for Maine that he...
Makar play happened at the far end of the rink from me, so I didn't get a very good look at it. I saw the UMA guy take a hard spill into the post, but couldn't see much else; how bad was it?
I'm here at the Mullins, and I honestly liked that period, despite the score. They definitely came to play and were the better team to start out, and have been much more physical. If they can rein it in and stop taking penalties they can take this.
Making the drive out to Amherst tonight. Hopefully they put together a better showing than they did yesterday. Was hoping for the impossible and that the regular season crown might be on the line, but alas.
26-37-63 in 48 GP this year in his first action stateside, though it's some obscure U16 league. But hey, well over PPG as a defenseman is not too shabby regardless of the league, especially when you're 16 years old and playing/living in a foreign nation for the first time...
I agree with (almost) all of the points made above. I wouldn't call the current team a "dump and chase" team, because I don't think that is their only strategy which they follow religiously. A lot of Gendron-era teams from when I was in school nearly exclusively dumped and chased, because they...
If Maine wants a chance at winning the Hockey East regular season title outright and the #1 seed, they need Merrimack to win against BC a week from today, dosen't matter if in OT or regulation. If Maine wants a shot at a share of the regular season title, and still have the #2 seed due to...
