UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Barry Scanlon has done a pretty good job covering the program for the Lowell Sun, so I won't blame him, but it's weird to see yesterday's Sun have an article about Lowell picking up a commit. I had to laugh, since Aidan Dyer committed back in December.

Girts Silkalns winds up at Northern Michigan. I wish him the best.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Thank you. I wasn't sure how the credits would transfer and how much eligibility he'd have. Appreciate your clarifying this for me.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

I'm assuming that Goich and Elliott will be competing for the starter spot. If Richard is going to compete, I wonder if that means Solomon might have to look elsewhere for 2026.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

I'll note once again that these rankings include players that aren't coming to Lowell, but NZ currently has us moved up to 9th in the country. NZ still shows Classon (3.5), Dolzhenko (3.5) and Guest (3.75) as commits and I know the latter two aren't committed to Lowell anymore. It also shows a...

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

3.75* recruit from Illinois, 5'10, 187. Not a big kid, but he is a late 2005 (Dec). From NZ in Dec 2024:

We will have one of the oldest teams in the NCAAs, so if experience helps, this should be a good plus.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

I truly like having kids like this one representing the program. And he gets to play against his old teammate after all.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

A new Goalie commit, 6'4, 177 pounds, 2004 who currently plays for Shreveport (NAHL). Nikola Goich, he's a 3.5* as per NZ, from Homer Glen, IL. With this commit, I'd guess Solomon moves to 2026 as incoming.

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

France struggled (putting it mildly) as their tournament ended today, losing all 7 games (one in OT). Grigals struggled for Latvia in net in his one game, finishing with a 81.08% save rate and a 7.00 GAA.

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Even with one more, we only have three "bench players" on a game to game basis, which doesn't provide much depth based on injuries. Of course we now have a ton of D-men.

UMass Lowell 2024-2025 Season: Expectations are.....Expectations

Are we really looking at only 14 forwards on the roster next year? Seems really late to add 2 or 3? Forwards (14): Seniors: Jay Ahearn, Dillan Bentley, Jack Collins, Connor Eddy Juniors: Jaiden Moriello, Jan Vaarwerk Sophomores: Mirko Buttazoni, Chris Delaney, Jacob MacDonald, Libor Nemec, Lee...

Heisenberg has corrected it and removed the commit from the Lowell list.

I also think he's heading to UMD. Just looking at our incoming roster, and we will have at least 8 freshmen who either already are, or will turn 21, during next season. I thought we were going away from that, but apparently not.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Yeah. I emailed them about one they still have as a Lowell recruit a few months ago, and of course, they never got back to me or fixed it.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

Lowell is 35th in their rankings, but it's definitely messed up. It still lists Dolzhenko (3.5*) and Guest (3.75) in our commit list, but doesn't currently include Lonsdale, Misskey and Mathurin (2 of the 3 are 3.75, one is 3.5). Currently the 2026 rankings have Maine #1, while Lowell is 16. BC...

Pretty good article in the NEHJ about soon to be sophomore Chris Delaney.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

The Sun article mentioned that we'd probably be looking at picking up a couple of forwards, so Lonsdale doesn't surprise me. I'd still like to see us get someone that has a history of goal scoring.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

I wish they'd just announce it. At this point, we have 6 d-men, 2 forwards and 2 goalies coming in, which already puts us over the 7-8 new faces Coach mentioned. And we only have 13 forwards as of now. The numbers don't add up.

UML Recruiting: Finally in the 20s!

It's obviously possible we'd have 10 d-men, but that seems a lot especially when we're short on forwards.
