The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
That athletic department has demonstrated enough sustained success in BB on both the men's and women's side that I wouldn't dismiss those Huskies out of hand. If UConn decides it wants to be a major player in women's puck, I'm not going to say it's impossible.
I think at least this much of this post is worthy of some consideration before being ridiculed. I'd like to see the sport grow over time. The talent gap from the top to the bottom of D-I is still large. If there were more D-I opportunities, would more young women embark on the journey of playing...
When I started to read this, I wondered how far these girls would need to travel to get a decent game. But with over 200 in the program and that many showing up weekly, it would seem that they have the critical mass to make this a really positive experience. Well done by the former Laker!
I don't care if you are the beat writer, have a crush on the coach, or owe her vast sums of money. As long as you keep the PairWise calculator/predictor functioning every year, you can continue to spew your usual nonsense, and it's all pure gold to me.
Makes sense. There's a lot of programs, and most of them have 15 or so people on the roster. Teams play 8 or 9 of them. The rest likely don't have all that much loyalty, unless it's their dream program. Those that play but don't start likely think they should start. Those that start at a program...
I agree; don't tell me. I can wait to read the official release.
It will be interesting to see if the next coach makes it look like UW really is the best job in the country. It didn't appear so in the years when MJ wasn't there, although that was prior to LaBahn, so can't conclude much.
It's hard to prove much as an assistant coach. When the team wins, the HC and the players get the credit. It's only after the assistant leaves and the program declines that people say, "Maybe that assistant contributed a lot." Johnson would know far better than I would how valuable Koch is to...
Koch left. He came back. He was named Associate Head Coach. If he's not the ultimately the guy, then I wonder why he has passed on so many jobs that would have been his for the asking over the years. And yes, I understand that being an assistant in Madison is better than being the #1 at a lot of...
reggie's post reminds me of the days when players like Lawler and Duggan were choosing Wisconsin, and fans from the East were wondering why. "They could have played for good programs!" Perspectives change.
She's been injured, but I'm not close enough to know what that means. Was she injured first, and that contributed to her struggles, so she opted for surgery, or something along those lines? Don't know, so won't speculate.
What he wants for a successor could factor into it. If he steps away now, Dan Koch is the heir apparent. He leaves Koch with a roster that has a great chance of kicking off his tenure with a title.
Part of me thinks he'd like another kick at the can with the senior class he has teed up for next year. On the other hand, it is getting harder and harder to win a title. There were times looking at the field when I wondered who was even going to come close to giving UW a game in the tourney...
More like 34, but yes. It was a strangely called game overall. There were so many obvious calls both ways let go, while the first call on each team was something we normally wouldn't see. WCHA refs would have taken a player from each team on the first call and would have made no call on the...
The only thing that I'm sure of is that the officials messed it up. The review happened with 18.9. They look at a play that happens with around 53 seconds left. Then they assess that penalty, award the penalty shot, and drop the puck again -- still with 18.9 seconds left. That isn't right; the...
The way this forum has been for much of the season, the surprise is that there is much in the way of conversation at all. Thanks for contributing! I think I started in "Scores" because we never had a FF thread, nor a UW vs tOSU Championship, or any other "official" thread. To the extent that I...
It's a call you could make. It's also a call where you could say that she just swatted it out of the crease. Had she done so from the side, I think she's okay, but she did so from the top. It also hurt that when they showed the refs reviewing it, they always were looking at it in slow mo. Had...
It was. It's also a cruel game. Dunne was the hero last year, and much of today, but she winds up being the player who wasn't able to control the rebound on the final play.
I'm glad it didn't go for 3 OTs, because the quality of play would have fallen off of a cliff at some point.
It's the puck. The puck has to keep moving forward. So if you pull back with your hands, but your momentum as a skater is still forward, it typically doesn't matter. It's when you are stopped and pull back that it would be a problem.
