Dump Term 2, Part 2: "A third term would be a big shattering."

Depends on whether you definition of "good" is "that which actually makes meaningful progress toward peace in the Middle East" or "that which gets me elected." Hand Bibi a couple W87's and the recipe for Zyklon B and the votes of loving, gentle, forgiving, Christ-like evangelicals would have...

The States : red states in a race to the bottom

I've drunk plenty of raw milk in my day - multiple great-uncles were dairy farmers, and they all just got their milk by dipping it out of the bulk tank. Filtered and chilled, but not pasteurized. Of course, I was also sick to the point of hospitalization for dehydration twice before I was 10...

Climate Change: This Rock Will Soon Be Uninhabitable

Yes - there have been articles recently about how the trees in Yellowstone are much healthier now that they've re-introduced wolves that are keeping the elk population in balance. Definitely a "side effect" that I had not thought of.

Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

Hmmm - I'm not so sure. Looks to me like the spike of imports from Nov-March is the anomaly, and April-May just returned to a sort of historical norm. As you say, the next few months are going to be very interesting.

Leopards Ate My Face! The Official Thread.

I knew precisely two Jews (single mother and daughter, both non-practicing) growing up in East Tennessee - and I would have known. However, TN is SO conservative that the Zion fetish kicks in, so we actually talked about Judaism a surprising amount at my mainstream protestant church. Plus, I...

The 2024 GQP Thread: Because Deutsche Gopher Fan ENDED the Last One

On a more serious note, I’m shocked he didn’t lend a brother a hand, where brother in this case would be the fat cat agribusiness in Florida that produces OJ. On the other hand , it might’ve also helped some CA farmers, and we can’t have that.

So much this. For every one leftist actually concerned about this, there are now 1000 right wingers screaming, “see how insane everyone to the left of Trump is?!?!?!?”

    The Dead Thread 2024

My sweet white long-haired 13 year old rescue chihuahua, Aramis. Survived 2 broken legs, a partially collapsed trachea, and leukemia, but his enlarged heart had finally had enough. I will miss home than any pet I have ever had. Quirky and stubborn as hell, but he was my boy.

What the Fark 7: They're Eating the Dogs!

Oh man - my dad worked for Eastman, which is in the next town over (Kingsport), so ECU was our bank growing up. For reference, Kingsport had a population of 35,000 and Eastman employed 13,000 people, so ECU was THE bank for that area.
