The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
The NHL/NHLPA are working toward remodeling signing rights to expire at 22 yo regardless of the development league. How do y'all expect that to impact the NCAA? I see a lot of one and dones after juniors as teams have to bring players into the system.
Mark Divver also reported it, but the team has not posted it. But we had this same conversation about Poirier and it got posted a week later, so I'm not too worried.
It's interesting to see Marques commit after we publicly opted-out. Does this imply somebody lost a scholarship? Or does it imply there isn't as much money floating around as we thought?
I would guess 1 more ECAC signed to a home and home agreement and then 1 independent to guarantee the extra home series. They already loaded up the non-conference with DU and QU so I doubt they play a Big10 or NCHC team.
I may be wrong, but I believe that is part of the house settlement and the newly created College Sports Commission, which Maine is not participating in.
Maine remains free to be as shady with NIL as they would like.
EDIT: I was in fact wrong. According to the CSC website, all student athletes...
Taken from the UML thread. I struck out the schools that had no choice but to opt-in or opt-out. There doesn't seem to be a consensus among the "Hockey Only" schools. I would generally prefer to be included with the opt-in group, but not to a worrying degree. If we truly get left in the dust, we...
The deadline to opt-in for schools is June 15th. I'm super interesting in seeing which schools opt-in and which don't. It seems like there's a real mix of opinions out there.
Most relevant to us, BC is automatically in as a member of the ACC. The Power 4 conferences all must participate.
The three peat opponents seem to rotate every other year (2H1A then 1H2A) before swapping opponents. The schedule gets tricky since the southern schools seem to favor home and home weekends
I don't understand playing a conference game in Portland regardless of who it is. Those games matter so much and the Alfond is such an advantage. That said Maine is getting BU for 2 at home for the second year in a row. The Hockey East schedule always has quirks like that.
Lowell schedule dropped. Maine plays UML in Portland on December 10th. I don't love conference games in Portland and especially on a weeknight.
EDIT: Looks like Lowell is another team Maine sees 3x next year.
