Michigan Hockey...

about the allegations against Michigan from what purportedly happened 25 years ago and the resultant lynch mobs forming????

Let's change the subject.

Season starts tonight! Home and home with Bowling Green. I miss our old CCHA match ups.

We're headed to the game at Yost tonight and I'm still debating a trip to that state down South for Saturday

Look for me at Yost, I'll be wearing orange. If you don't already have a ticket for a trip to that state down South, you'll need to check Seat Geek or Stub Hub as the game has been sold out for months. However, it may be worth the cost and to get there early as the University is going all out for the home opener. They're calling it Fan Fest and it starts at 2p next to the Slate with a carnival midway, a Video Game Truck, 2 giant TV screens showing college football games, live music, and food trucks.

That sounds awesome. Once I checked seatgeek and saw the prices, we decided to stay home. Especially since my hubs told me I have taken him to a game at BGSU already.

Good weekend of hockey for the Wolverines, thought BGSU did get a nice jump on the Saturday game.

Huge series this weekend. 1 v. 2 Rematch of the too many overtimes frozen four semi-final. Will Denver's goalie continue to prove unbeatable? Will Michigan take the confidence of a 17 goal weekend and find ways to score?

I have a couple friends flying out to Denver for the series. I'm a bit jealous. I was invited, but it is homecoming for football this weekend and I had already made plans to attend homecoming.

Here's hoping the maize and blue find a win (or 2?) in Denver.

Still haven't been to a game, yet, but have seen the highlights....

Last night's result is very encouraging- Michigan was really tested on defense, as Denver pressured a lot more than anyone else has- at least as much as the extended highlights I've seen. I'm sure it will be really hard to finish the sweep tonight.

edit- just to add I really hate it how many seem to put a lot on this as a "rematch" from last spring. As if it will mean anything other than rankings at the end of the season. Mentally, it may be a small thing to beat #1, but the "revenge" is hardly the same as losing in the Frozen Four. Even if we sweep, it's not as important. The only "revenge" that would come close if if we end up playing each other in the tournament.

Well, they finished the sweep. 4-1 Friday and 4-3 Saturday in Denver, so 6-0 to start.

Saturday was the tougher one. Denver outshot us 36-25 and went 2 for 6 on the power play. Ivankovic was the difference again: 33 saves Saturday and 60 on 64 shots for the weekend. Cebrian tied it early in the third before Barnett's first of the year at 15:07 won it. Perron scored in both games.

The penalties worry me. 16 PIM Saturday against a team that good on the PP is playing with fire.

I'm one of those that was viewing it as a rematch from April. That was also before I found out Denver's undefeated goalie wasn't going to be playing. Awesome to take 2 games from the number 1 in their building, but I wonder how it would have gone if Hicks had been healthy.

Now on to hosting Western on Friday. Hopefully hockey doesn't need an extra second at the end of the game to secure a win.

Fair. Hicks made 49 saves against us in April, so he'd have changed the weekend. Krivtsov played both nights. Still, Denver outshot us 64-45 and we won both, so Ivankovic deserves the credit either way. Western's the real measuring stick now: 4-0, outscoring teams 21-2. Last year it was a split, 4-0 us at Yost and 5-2 them in Kalamazoo.
