27 draft eligible D Levi Harper flips from MSU to Michigan, plays for Saginaw Spirit

Teddy Spitznagel (left Michigan to join Ottawa 67's mid-season) commits to CC for 2027

07 F Matthew Gard commits to MSU for 2027, plays for Seattle Thunderbirds

08 F Alessandro Di Iorio commits to BU for 2027, plays for Sarnia Sting. CBJ just took him in the 3rd round

the CHL Import Draft saw a few commits get taken:
LSSU- Mikhail Cherepanov (Kamloops), Marek Peroutka (Victoria)
BU- Andrei Nikolayev (Victoriaville)
BC- Timothy Kazda (Guelph)
Michigan Tech- Noel Pakarinen (Penticton)

this is the first year teams can take 16 year olds in the import draft, so some of the picks are 2010s and could commit later on. Pakarinen has already signed with Penticton

as expected, NTDP U18 leading scorer F Jamie Glance has signed with Saint John. He will join BU in 2027. He just missed the age cut for this draft, so he'll spend his draft season with the Sea Dogs. Parker Trottier signs with Regina, committed to Notre Dame.

some U17 defections: Broden McArthur (Minnesota) to Erie, Sam Wathier (BC) to Windsor

another bit of Q news- in the next few days, all the teams will have US scouts besides VdO. there were a few still without but Victoriaville is announcing their US scout soon

in more sobering news, the unexpected shutdown of multiple Canadian radio stations by Rogers has some far reaching effects in junior hockey. Calgary and Vancouver are both losing their Sportsnet stations, so the Vancouver Giants and Calgary Hitmen will need to find new radio homes. Also needing new homes will be: Kitchener Rangers, Halifax Mooseheads. their city news stations are closing, along with two news-focused stations in Calgary and Vancouver.

Vann Williamson, who was committed to Clarkson, has decided to go back to the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs. Clarkson announced him and had him in a post for Vegas Development camp, but they took it down now.

07 F Anthony Preskar commits to Army, signed with Moncton for this season

08 F Ryan Howard commits to Merrimack, plays for the Remparts.

08 F Mack Diggins commits to UMD, will play for Owen Sound.

Some changes in the SCSU incoming class- 07 D Will Sharpe, played in Kelowna/Vancouver last year and 2025 7th round pick to LAK. 06 D Garrett Frazer flips commit from Northeastern. Rumors had Gio Pantelas potentially coming but reports are that he used it as leverage to get traded from Brandon to Penticton, so might not be the case anymore. commitment might still come for next season

NTDP updates: Carter Meyer (BU) to Remparts official after NTDP released him, now Kane Barch (Michigan) has been released. Michigan commit signs with London, his brother Hayden played in North Bay last year and his dad Krys coached Niagara. Alexander Milojevic signs with Saginaw Spirit, no commitment yet. As expected a few CHLers are being given chances to move up to replace the departures, F Gerry DiCunzolo (Penn State) joins from Peterborough. Not a defection but of the U18 guys D Jackson Marthaler (UMD) signs with London.

Other CHL adds- Kazda (BC) signs with Mem Cup hosts Guelph. Peroutka (LSSU) signs w Victoria. With Bleyl leaving for Michigan State, Moncton replaces him with Detroit 7th round pick D Myles Brosnan (Harvard)

Coaching changes: Kitchener head coach Jussi Ahokas gets the much deserved call to the pros, he was named head coach of the Colorado Eagles.

One thing we are seeing more of- with the new pool of talent, it's inevitable that some players get pushed off the rosters. A good bit have been finding opportunities in USports, along with the usual D3 and ACHA transfers. Not every team has dipped into this, but some might just not be announced yet- UNB, TMU, Carleton, Concordia, Queen's, UPEI, O of Ottawa, UWO, Brock, U of Toronto, UAlberta, Acadia, UBC have all gotten at least 1. unofficial count is 26 this summer.

Are you referring to guys who have aged out of juniors or players who are 19-21 who decided to go to USports, D3, etc instead of junior A?

i should've clarified- i meant transfers from NCAA to USports. guys squeezed out by roster crunch with new talent, the new roster caps, Mercyhurst dissolving etc that didn't find another D1 spot. i dont know how many people went from NCAA to USports before but its been interesting to see
