The Countries: Forget it, Burkina Faso, Michigan is still the worst.

Nominations for new Labour leader and PM will open 9 July. The election will follow soon after. The new PM will be in place when parliament returns in September. Starmer will stay on until that process is complete.

Just a new face on the same cereal box, or are there real differences between the candidates?
We don't know. Starmer was supposed to be different and he ended up being somehow worse than the Tories. Streeting would be even worse than Starmer. Andy Burnham has a chance to be different. He has to be the leader and surround himself with like-minded cabinet with the same objectives. Starmer was essentially Uncle Junior and others called the shots while he took the credit (or blame).

Four Seasons hotel in Damascus was bombed. Macron was staying there en-route to Turkey for thr NATO summit. Macron was not in the hotel at the time.

Four seasons, eh?

I think I've identified a suspect

Nigel Farage wants to resign as MP from Clacton (where he has never lived) to try to avoid investigation into his "gift" of 5 million quid from a cryptobro just before he was elected. Instead he is going to stand in the by-election and wanted to do an "us vs the world" campaign as establishment candidates from Labour, the Tories, Lib Dems lined up to challenge (and lose to) him. This would allow him to play ringleader to a national media circus through the summer months. Instead, not a single party (even Restore) is standing a candidate. They are all ignoring him, so the media will largely do the same.

He will have at least one challenger. Kepler's favorite candidate. It could be a head-to-head contest (or as close as one gets in the UK) and while it would be shocking it is not entirely implausible that come September the new MP from Clacton could be Count Binface.

In other UK news, today was the first day that Labour MPs could select a candidate to back for Prime Minister. Andy Burnham is the only declared candidate and received 322 endorsements. If just one more Labour MP endorses him it will be mathematically impossible for any other candidate to run. It is all over but the shouting. Andy Burnham is the next PM.

How scared is Nigel Farage of losing a head-to-head election to a man with a bin on his head? Reform have ordered all the campaigners helping with the mayor's race in Manchester to relocate to Tracton to save Cuntface from Binface.

That is Count Binface, put some respect on his name! ;)

One of the best things about this situation in England is it forced the media to reluctantly cover a talking trash can. Then realizing having Count Binface on was ratings gold and now every talk and news show is inviting him on. The best was when someone asked what his platform is and he simply responded, "I'm not Nigel Farage." SOLD!

Farage wanted the establishment vs an outsider, and he sure got it. This isn't quite what he had in mind though.

Coverage is interesting. The "Good Morning America" type derps for UK are taking it as "haw, haw, haw" and blowing it. Bin Face simply sits back and does his bit with them, with no real engagement. The hosts come off as cowards and morons.

But. The real political analysis shows are doing it correctly. They interview him straight. They don't make stupid jokes. If he makes a joke, they cover it deadpan. The result is brilliant satire, and they look brilliant with it. Americans could learn a lot.

The other thing I have seen from the UK is real journalists relentlessly questioning Farage and not letting he or his henchmen BS. It's the opposite of here. Their news media still has chops. The Righties fall for the derp, of course; they will everywhere. But the rest of the country understands exactly what Farage is trying to pull and insists their media keep firing back and exposing him. It's like what US news media was 50-60 years ago before the corporate takeover.

The news was always corporations they just had integrity because they foolishly thought the public cared.

British Journalists would look exactly like ours if the far right controlled everything. They aren't magically tougher or more valued. They will cave to political power just like every other country in the world.

Farage doesn't even realize how foolish he sounds saying Count Binface represents the establishment. Even far right interviewers have trouble keeping a straight face.

In national polling of 1000 Brits 33% chose Count Binface, 32% neither and 21% Farage.
