Minnesota Women's Hockey 2026-27: Here Comes The Boom

Curious post from the sinner poster who kinda behaves like a yuckee poster. Claims inside knowledge but then posts something about a recruit decomitting from the tunnelers that has been known for a while. I mean when ya know, ya know....

Anywho...The tunneler staff has been doing some work (wether it is good work or not remains to be seen) on the 2028 recruiting class, getting 3 commitments so far. eastcoastgopher posted the lastest commitment on GPL as Callie McCullough (BK Selects).
 
Tunneler staff definitely doing so work on the recruiting front. 4th commitment is Mia Sutch of Centinnial High School in Minnesota.

I have to assume at this point that these 4 young ladies did not get the message that the yuckeyes ARE the future.

I don't know about the other 3 commits in this class so far, but Mia Sutch has been playing Celly League in MN this summer and, notwithstanding being 2-4 years younger than nearly all other players, has been a standout. She looks to be the real deal.

All 4 are very solid recruits for the tunnelers but definitely looking forward to seeing Sutch and Chimera in maroon and gold.
 
I don't know ... is there such a thing as a good team to lose to? Just based on 2014-15, I got sick of losing to Bemidji. It wasn't fun losing to the Whioux when they had the twins, and there was nothing -- nothing -- worse than losing to UMD during a certain era. But until we remember how to defend, we are going to have to accept losing to all sorts of random teams.
 
For me, the staw that broke the camel's back was losing to Northleastern this past year in the tournament. Losing to WCHA teams is one thing but losing to a Hockeyleast team?

Sheesh...That was a truely crap the bed performance and as painful as the coaching change was, That change needed to happen.

It is somewhat funny that the muzzinator was not able to lure any of the 3 tunneler decommitments for 2027. Then again, maybe they have all the best recruits and just didn't need anymore...

The big question is has/will the coaching change reverse the apathy? Reversing apathy is a huge undertaking. I know this first hand as a UW men's hockey fan. Granato was a splash hire, but he did not win and the apathy continued to build. Hastings was a pretty obvious choice to replace him and it's working. It will be fascinating to see if the huge NCAA run reverses the apathy. I don't know if your team fell further than the UW men did. I wouldn't mind if the rodentettes could dump that other team and push them back to 3rd. I'm not sure if a guy who was a part of the problem can solve the problem.

Frost was on the UM staff when they won their first two NCAA titles in 2004 and 2005, and was still there when they were runners up in 2006 and didn't make the tourney in 2007. He took over as head coach the next year, and they didn't make it to the title game over his first four seasons. For the next five seasons, his assistants were Johnson and Muzerall, and they reached the title game every year. Muzerall left, and they only reached the final once the rest of the way under Frost.

That led me to conclude that the whole coaching staff is important, what each brings to the table and how they click. It could turn out that May doesn't get it done, but I'm not ready to conclude that he will fail simply because he worked under Frost for three seasons. Even Mark Johnson has had seasons where his team didn't meet expectations.
