RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

Maybe they can rename it the Mayer's Cup: have John Mayer do a set between periods and hand out the trophy at the end.

The guy who maintains the schedule page (Liveatjrl) seems to know 31 of our 34 regular season games. That page is the very first item on the 2006-2007 schedules thread.

Somewhere along the line I am pretty sure I remember hearing something about a home and home against Army but no idea when it will be. Should that be so that only leaves one game that is a complete unknown (at least to me).

In contrast to other D1 college sports I follow, find it kind of odd that in late June there is still no official info about a hockey schedule that begins in around 14 weeks or so. However, in no more than a few clicks taking mere seconds I already know that my favorite major college football team will be paying their first visit to New England in almost five decades to play BC. Also know that the only non SEC team I follow with any interest will also be paying their first visit to the same place in over four and a half decades. The teams are Alabama and Ohio State and the dates respectively are (barring any further conference jumping, expansion or increase of conference games) September 13, 2031 and September 13, 2036!!!

Half a decade from now already have answer. Entire decade from now also already have answer. But still waiting to find out what is going on in the last half of 2026. Seems strange to me.

Today is 24 June 2026. There are 102 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 4 October 2026 for the start of next season.

I think you can infer the answer is "no" based on the last sentence of the RPI announcement, which notes that the tickets are being sold by the arena beginning on July 1: https://rpiathletics.com/news/2026/...027-mayors-cup-at-harding-mazzotti-arena.aspx

At quick glance, Clarkson and Colgate have not yet posted their 26-27 schedules. Union, I believe unveiled theirs yesterday. So, I don't think RPI is late per se.... chasing the non conference games and details can get tricky at times...

Not many options if it's a true back-to-back home-and-home. Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 27-28) is open for both. Near Year's weekend (Jan 1-2) is open for both. That's it, from what I can see.

Army hosts Union on Saturday October 3. We're both free on Friday October 2, so wonder if something happens then and you then find another random date along the way.

Did I miss the departure of an assistant? I thought we filled the final position with Thrawl last season.
According to Mike McMahon CHN Nicholson is filling Karlis Zirnis open spot from last year. I suspect and I could be wrong but maybe Thrawl will be in more of a GM type position? Or Nicholson will be a GM? Not sure but we have a new coach

Schedule’s out, tOSU, LIU, RIT, UNH, UML, UVM and AWP non conference
Solid schedule! I like seeing Army on the schedule with lang’s ties to the program. RIT is always a tough game especially in Rochester. Overall a good schedule with a heavy dose of New York teams.

And the Union Cup Game to make 12 non conference games.

As for the building renovations. Had an eye appointment last week at the medical building just down the hill from the Fieldhouse. When done took a walk around the place and found the back doors wide open and got a good look inside. Seems to be going very well and a contractor guy standing outside taking a break flat out told me they expect to be done and gone by around Labor Day.

However, so much for the previously mentioned top of the building concourse at least for the time being. Nothing has been touched up there and the same guy said he knew of nothing that was going to happen up there during this project. As far as he knew once the rink itself is done all they are doing is replacing the bottom concourse they ripped out to work on the rink. It appears that entry and exit will remain as it was at least for now.

Not opposed to that schedule. It's not the toughest or most glamorous, certainly, but we've seen how a really tough non-conf schedule created a hole that was hard to dig out from - both in W-L record and mentality. And the goal this year is progress, so games against mid-level Hockey East and higher-level AHA teams should show if and/or how we're improving while hopefully setting us up for the conference.

(Interestingly, only the second time since 2016-2017 that we've not played one of Canisius or Niagara.)
