Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Maybe it's too much to ask for the first period Badgers to show up for the entire game on Saturday. That team is as good as any in D1 hockey this year, and would be difficult to defeat.

It's been a few years since I posted (and I was never too prolific), and my moniker is no longer appropriate (unless you consider Missouri a foreign country), but that was an impressive game. I have only seen bits and pieces of games this year so I don't know this team well at all. I was very impressed with the tenacious forecheck and the shot blocking.

Well that was a fun way to spend a few hours of our vacation down here in SC.

Won't get to see Saturday's game - unbelievable to be honest that they finally get back and I have other plans.

Will be checking in though and if I can find a way to stream it to my phone, I'll have it on at a concert lol.

Get it done boys!

I still am kinda dumbfounded as to why the NCAA had ECAC refs for this game. They were atrocious. Outside of Cornell/Q-Pac, I don't think there's a single ECAC team that can play at the level of Big10/NCHC/Hockey East. Why not HE refs? At least they know fast paced/hard play with the likes of BC/BU/Maine/Northeastern, etc. and can differentiate who actually committed the penalty.

The ECAC is such a defensive minded, slow paced conference in my opinion. It was shameful putting those refs on the ice.

Random thoughts, not by Jack Handy....

How great is the coaching on the D that Phelan (who I wanted gone last year) and a walk on Knox are playing regulars shifts and playing well against elite talent? These coaches can coach. WOW. Our patience as fans needs to get coached up.

Montgomery has Hobey Baker type talent. Dude is lethal fast. His hands just have to catch up to his speed, but his speed is a huge asset. He needs to use that all 200'. Too bad be punted that breakaway in the 3rd.

Zelenov is our best center outside the faceoff circle. When he signed I was "um, ok, who is this guy". Great pick-up.

Tulk was inches away from owing me a new 70" tv. What a colossal f-up and what a colossal recovery.

The 3rd period 1 on 3 shorty that hit the crossbar was another instance of 3 players potentially splitting the cost of the smashed 70". WTF was that???

Hauser was tracking everything like a droid. That one glove save where he caught the puck around the back of the Sue player on the 3rd was like...."what did I just see?"

Other then a few spurts that in the end did not amount to much and the 2 glaring f-ups, UW controlled the game. UW played faster than the Sue. Playing in the B26 is paying dividends.

I think Bruno will stick around. When he broke onto the scene in the USHL mid-season, UW was all over him, hopefully he appreciates that. He was voluntarily playing D in scrimmages during the D injuries' period (so did Kukonnen) so they had 8 D. There will be plenty of room for him next season with all the loses at F UW will have.

PK was MONEY! OMG that was the difference in the game.

This coaching staff has done a phenomenal job.

FINISH THE DEAL! Let's go RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!

It's Denver.
I never really hated Denver like I do Nodak and Minnesota (and now Ped State and Michigan)….
But something that always stuck with me is years ago George Gwozdecky (who played for Badger Bob) was asked about Wisconsin, I think when there was a recruiting g battle for Pettinger….he said something along the lines of “they’ve had their time” kind of blowing off UW.

Well….with the success DU had since 2002 I’ll say Denver has had their time, it’s time for Wisconsin to get their 7th and rekindle the dominance they once had.

The weasels outplayed DU. UW outplayed the Sue and has also outplayed the weasels. UW belongs where they are. DU should be worried.

Agreed on all of this and I have to say, I think Zelenov is the best stick handle in a phone booth type player I’ve seen since Reinprecht. He’s an incredible playmaker.

Hell yeah! Can they drop the puck already??!! I haven’t been this amped since 2006 win over Cornell and witnessing both games live vs. Maine and BC at the Bradley Center.
