BU Hockey '25-'26: Can we keep up the run to Vegas?

Hmmm, a real fight…Boisvert and some UML goon just had a real fight..no helmets, bare knuckles, Hanson Brothers…finally a little fight from the Terriers

They are a dumb, lazy and characterless team. It’s NOT “turning around” and despite what he has to portray publicly Pandolfo knows it too. Playing out the string and Hutson ending his BU career in a disappointing fashion.

Pretty much agree on this. So much for Frozen Four momentum. Now 5-6-1 at home? That’s horrific for a program that was getting on the right track and seemed to have reloaded.

I can't even with this team.... Just....Wow....

At least we saw the first real fight in, what 35 years? More? Shaugnessy? Has there ben one since then. And as a result, they lose their first line center tomorrow night. As if that really matters, so never mind.

BU Hockey: Put a Fork in 'em....

Man, the mediocrity is STRONG with this team.
You can't even get worked up enough toi hate on them.
Just completely blaahhhh and no one steps up to do anything.
And the fight didn't even get the team riled up. Sigh.

I actually thought the first 34 minutes they looked great (except Hutson - more there in a sec). Then they gave up that first goal (Hutson could have broken that up imo) and all structure disappeared.

Fight was dumb. It was fun but as noted above we lose one of our better players for game 2 and they lost a 4th line goon.

This is my first time seeing Hutson since the injury. He didn’t look right. His decision making and reactions were slower than they were before. That few percent missing makes a difference when you are trying dangerous dangles and he couldn’t pull off a single one tonight. On the UML first goal it took him too long to read and make a play on the puck.

It does look like some of the young guys are developing though. Morello looks good, Merrill, Tretheway too. Rouk is probably my favorite player on the team at this point just because he’s willing to fight for every inch with the puck. But this season is cooked.

Yeah, Hutson definitely isn't the same. I can't believe he didn't shoot when he broke in alone...crazy drop pass when the guy you just went around obviously didn't disappear into thin air.

They were in control and looking great until that shorty. Then ..💩

one thing pointed out in Boston Hockey Blog’s overview was the positive growth in Ryder Ritchie over the past 2 games. the demotion to the 4th line when Lawrence arrived seems to have sparked something in him. played well vs Harvard and tonight and is getting rewarded with the points. he’s still fairly young and sometimes it takes a while to settle in, so i wasn’t too concerned overall with his underwhelming start to his college career. seems he’s hit the right gear now.

svoboda with an uncharacteristically tough night in the dot, seems he’s not quite 100%. boisvert can fight obviously, but he’s still way more useful to his team on the ice. he’s finally looked healthy again so hopefully whatever suspension he gets doesn’t handicap that positive momentum he had.

i’m a bigger believer in UML than most so im not totally shocked but with regards to NPI it’s definitely not ideal… i was definitely shocked by who scored that OT winner though. if you told me a Sharks prospect was going to score an OT GWG, Nate Misskey wouldn’t be in my top 15 guesses.

Regarding the shortie. That’s a stop a D1 goalie has to make.

Regarding Ritchie. I agree. I said to my wife and daughter mid game that this was his best game in a Terrier uniform. The 4th line and Harvey were the only one’s worthy of the uni last night.

Too soon to talk about next season?

Morello and Rouk are the 2 guys that consistently have looked good only ones “doing their job”. Harvey scored 2 but also had a big part in giving up the first 2 goals. They are on a PP up 2-0 and he just dumped the puck to Lowell in the Lowell zone and headed to the bench starting a breakout they never recovered from. Who gives up the puck like that on the PP. I can’t imagine Eiserman hangs around but he’s not ready for the next level. He is an absolute non factor and is physically getting pushed around a lot. Hutson’s bad judgement and to’s are very noticeable since he’s been back and his chippy demeanor doesn’t become him when he’s not playing well. No major judgement here because he is 17 and joining a new team mid season but Lawrence doesn’t look that special and the jump start he’s was brought in for has actually been the opposite for the team offensively

Oh to be a coach! High level athletes are as much about what is between the ears as their physical ability. They have the ability but the pro level mental toughness is lacking. This is Jay's toughest coaching challenge.

During BU's time-out last night they showed the BU bench on the video board. Joe was diagramming a play and Jay had the 100 foot stare. He knows...

The last fight in college hockey was in an Alaska-Fairbanks/ASU game on February 24 of 2024. Both players suspended for the rest of the season. So, a couple of weeks really. It will be interesting to see how Hockey East rules on this.

Thanks for that interesting info. I wasn’t aware a longer suspension was even a possibility.
