Maine Recruits: When Ashes Fall, Legends Rise

Two new recruits, Ludvig Lafton a 6'2 defenseman from Norway drafted in the 6th round by Utah. He's a PPG player in the USHL this year. Reese Tracy is the other, I don't know as much about him.

Without NIL money it's going to be hard to get elite players
Poirier is an elite college hockey player. Holt is an elite college hockey player. Coming into this year Boija was an elite college hockey player. Peterson looks like he could develop into an elite hockey player. Crying about NIL is such a lazy and uninformed take. Western Michigan won a national championship without spending a dollar of NIL money last year. That's also ignoring the fact that the Black Bear Collective is getting money to players, and Barr has said rev share money is coming. Maine will never get elite NHL talent, but Maine has as many HE championships as BC or BU since Barr was hired.

Ludvig seems like a great get. 6'2" almost 200 should be useful on the blue line.

Tracy is interesting in that he's still in AAA as opposed to Jrs. I'm interested in if Maine has any say in his next step (USHL or QMJHL)

Lafton looks like a great get. 6'2, so he has some of the size we've been asking for (granted, he isn't a forward, but still). 23 assists in 28 games is pretty good too, and it appears he's consistently playing on Dubuque's top D pairing. And Dubuque is a good team too, they're third in the eastern conference in the USHL and have a 23-9-2 record, so its not like he's a guy playing at the top of a bad team because there's no one else. He also just barely turned 20 y/o a few days ago, so its also not like he's dominating as a very old player. That looks like a really solid pickup to me.

I saw someone on Twitter say he got cut from his Q team because he was really soft on the puck, and at 5'9 148 that's pretty believable. He's still rated 4 stars so there must be some talent there though.

He's from Florida which is OHL recruiting territory, Sudbury Wolves drafted him in the 8th round. If he matures and fills out he should get a shot at a roster spot next year
