UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Well here's the deal...if you attended the event you would have seen I believe home town kid Ryan Philbrick's coach/ Bow HS coach (please correct if I'm wrong)
receive a UNH signed jersey which was cool... As far as this being a 'feather in MS7's cap' I really wouldn't go that far. Sure, like I said, it was at least for me,
nice to see him on the ice with the team but honestly, most of it was the team doing their drills, faced paced and you could really get a feel for their individual skill.
Sometimes that gets lost (for me haha) during a game. You are closer to the ice etc. Just a good way to view the team and they seemed to enjoy it.

So seems like a long way to get to an event like this which meant more to me as a season ticket holder than listening to what their favorite color is. (Which those events
are at least a way to spend time with them that we used to have during FOH events but I'll leave that right here). It's about the team and the players; who's on the ice blowing the whistle was not the main attraction but played a part. Oh, and I'd be remiss to leave out seeing Jim Torts (legend) out there as well. Dropped him a note thanking him for the event and hoped that it would (or something like it) continue.
If it was Bows coach then it was Tim Walsh who played for the cats in the late 90s.

HE only has 2 teams in the top 16 (BC, Providence) and they are at 15/16. Strange year for HE for sure… as Snively has mentioned before we may only get the auto bid into the tournament this year. When was the last time HE only had 1 team go?
Came pretty close in '23 with only BU and Merrimack and IIRC, 'Mack barely squeaked in as an at large team (I believe they were the 15th overall seed).

Per Heisenberg.... UNH recruits George Mccaffery, Sebastion Bradshaw, and sadly Jack Sadowski are no longer UNH recruits. I feel bad for the Sadowski kid and hope him and the others good luck.
Feel especially bad for Sadowski. Bogies son is heading to BC, Steve Morrows son went to UMass. It was nice to see a highly touted son of alum commit to UNH.

Good luck to all three.

Was inevitable that pre-CHL guys got cut. Haven't done the math but there will probably be more. (Only so much room, so some hurt feelings...)
Also see Seguin-Lescarbeau and Nikita Konevych X'ed out on Heisenberg. And of course there's Allecia who bailed for Dartmouth.
I don't necessarily feel sorry for Sadowski but he might become one that got away...could have been his decision, not Mike's?

No chatter about upcoming weekend series with NU Huskies that could determine whether Cats have any shot at postseason play?
I’m curious to see how they come out of the gate, having only played 2 games in the last month. I know we talked about rust a few pages back… if anything it has at least given some guys a chance to get healthy.

These should be two winnable games. It all depends on which team shows up. I’m hoping for the more aggressive, active forecheck team. Gotta score first to keep NU on their heels and have them start second guessing, especially after their sweep at the hands of UVM.

I’m not a gambler, but if I had to predict:

Fri: UNH 3 NU 2
Sun: UNH 1 NU 2 (OT)

Aligns with my previous prediction of 4 points this weekend. I hope for more, but I need to see a bit more after the lackluster showing vs. Colgate. They’re going to need all the momentum they can get heading into BC next weekend…

Bring on the HockeyEast schedule!

UNH's schedule really was weak during the holidays and it may come back to bite it in the end. Week schedule is bad for an NCAA at large bid if UNH has a strong second half. Additionally, allowign five weeks between league games is not wise.

It appears that Souza, like many other college teams, is adopting the older players generally beat younger players approach to assembling a hockey team. BTW, that's precisely the approach Curt Cignetti is following the the Indiana football miracle. This approach may become the great equalizer in college hockey. The blue chip 18 and 19 year old freshman no longer have the same impact on college hockey games as 5 years ago (let alone 20 years ago) because they are now playing against 24 year old OHL players that have played hundreds more high stakes games than them against men.

Wow, you really are a deep thinker, excellent observation, as usual. Would it be better for an at large bid if UNH had a schedule by the day or month? Versus the week? Just asking to keep confusion to a minimum for the rest of us ne'er-do-well's.

I am still confused about “… bite it in the end.” Bite what in the end? And apparently “a week schedule” only matters if “UNH has a strong second half.”

I don't see anything wrong with UNH's schedule. Win that first Colgate game and your NPI shoots up to 14. If you beat Quinnipiac as well it goes up to 10.

And what's this 5 week hoey about? UNH had 3 weeks off, less time than many. You couldn't beat Colgate on your return, what makes you think you would have beat an HEA opponent coming off break? I'm having trouble following your thought process, Bud.

Well, I like the ne'er do well's comment. Agreed. As for you going all Seinfeld on a typo, well, yeah, that seems to match your creative capabilities. Well done!

I'm having trouble following your thought process,
No league game last week. UNH is last in HE in league games played. Two HE teams have played 1 more game, while the other 8 have played anywhere from 2-4 more games. UNH plays a substantially tougher schedule than the rest of the league for the next 2 months and has pretty much no rest. BTW, UNH only plays 1 goalie. Not a great formula.

Bless your heart, you don't know your grammar. You realize UNH is singular? Ah, well anyways, if UNH was plural, well, "bite them in the end" would fit. "Bite it in the end" is an idiom, which doesn't suggest even for a moment that you are an idiot for now knowing it. Are you the one that was a teacher?
