The Dead Thread 2024

Siena University men’s lacrosse Head Coach, Liam Gleason, 41, after suffering a fall in his home. The doctors are preparing an honor walk before the life support goes off.

Four months to the day after my dad passed away, my mom died today. Having always had an independent streak, we had hoped she'd have a proverbial second life as a widow, but COPD and (I think) depression took its course. At least we don't believe she suffered; sounds like she had some sort of cardiac event and was gone before she hit the floor.

Also, at least I didn't kill her via heart attack by letting her know i now ride a motorcycle. Kept that one from her the last two years.

Her only request/demand is that no one play Amazing Grace in her memory. She promised to haunt anyone who plays that song in her honor.

I appreciate that. They were married for 55 years, and I was well aware that long term spouses often pass in close proximity, so this isn't wholly unexpected even though I had hoped we were in the clear after passing the 3-month mark. But yeah, this still sucks (to put it mildly).
