Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Agreed. Think it was that the team took a step back after having instant success. I like the way that Hastings goes about his business. One can tell he wasn’t going to continue to have bad seasons. Last year’s team lacked a bit of size and good goaltending. He went out and got some big bodied players with skill/work ethic and goalies that can stop the puck. The team looks so much better this year as a result.
 
Big weekend series coming up. What result are needed for people to be satisfied? Sweep? Split? Win and a tie? Being a competitive series regardless of the outcomes?

Split I feel is necessary, but taking 4 of 6 would make me very happy and tell me this team can go toe to toe with anyone.

Great question. I would be satisfied if the series was competitive. If it's competitive, then they have a chance to win the games. That's all you can ask for.
 
Quinn Finley was selected to play for the US in the Spengler cup. Selfishly I was hoping he wasn't so he could play in the Holiday Faceoff, also playing 3-5 games in a week there's always a chance of injury. I don't really know much about the tournament otherwise.
 
Listened to the hockey digest this week & one thing Hastings brought up was the need to continue improving the hunt for pucks on the offensive side of the centerline. Their forecheck has been noticeably better this yr and they have made life miserable in the neutral zone for teams thus far.

But, hunting pucks takes discipline and anticipation as well. Against MI, they can make you pay if out of position or caught puck watching. I think that'll be the game in the game tonight.

dec 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland, 6 team invitational held since 1923. usually club teams but Canada usually sends a national team since 84, rarely NHLers and usually guys in Europe, minor leagues, or even college- most recently Massimo Rizzo from DU in 2023. HC Davos as host is a constant and they and Canada have the most titles. the only other NA based orgs outside of Team Canada to play since the 90s is AHL Rochester Americans twice, but otherwise it has been mostly euro club teams. 2 college teams have gone (Minnesota 81 and NoDak 82) but this is the first time a collegiate selects team has been formed like this.

this year the participants are:
USCS, NCAA
IFK Helsinki, Liiga
HC Sparta Praha, Czech Extraliga
Team Canada
HC Fribourg-Gotteron, NL (2024 champ)
HC Davos, NL (host)

basically, its a trip to Switzerland to play in a century old tournament. interestingly, the very first tournament in 1923 was won by a bunch of Canadians who were studying at Oxford University.

i started a thread going over the roster as it was announced, i should repost that blurb there too. but the details of the team so far are all on there.

Gadowski the HC and 4 of his players. I love it!
 
Need more poise Tassy. You just can't through it up the ice with the turnover that iced the game. Almost every mistake they made ended up in the back of their net.
