Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

I prefer my air traffic to have working screens...
My MAGA neighbor pilots the Newark - Dublin route for United Airlines. If I was still speaking to him I'd ask how he likes flying blind in a jumbo jet...

Thanks to "Mr. Art of the Deal," there will be less tariffs applied to imported Aston Martin or Land Rover vehicles than any Ford or Chevrolet.

Not sure what the source is for $800 million but that would mean they’ve quadrupled inventory in a month. Which I just don’t believe. Last official estimate was $200 million, which is actually not terribly far off from what the F150 sees for inventory relative to quarterly sales.

Edit: I see it’s being reported by vice. Not sure where they’re at with reliability since being sold, but if that’s true, that’s bad news for Tesla.

Edit 2: holy shit. Yeah, that’s bad.

If no one wants them are they really worth $800 million?
I dunno...how much do you think it cost to build those death traps?

Thing is, it would have flipped if Elon had not gone full nazi. The POS was a boondoggle from the word jump. When designs started leaking years ago only the hard-core Elmo freaks thought it would work.

Vices opinions suck, but they usually are solid on numbers.

The problem isn't just inventory, as you say it would have been in line with F-150s. The difference being people want F-150s demand is there. The Cybertruck had near zero demand when launched and has negative demand now. Even discounted they can't sell and the money sunk is lost.

If Ford has a bad year on F-150s it sucks but they can easily weather it. They can blow them out in a huge sale or make up the difference in another car from their line. Eating the cost will tick off the shareholders but the company survives and in 6 months no one cares. Tesla doesn't have that...this bombing is going to be a huge drag and with Tesla sales tanking around the globe is going to causes serious stress to the bottom line. Elmo can keep propping the stock up only so long.

And it's worse for customers. If you buy a Ford and don't like it you can trade it in fir a different model or sell it off. Tesla has restrictions on that. Why buy something you will be forced to keep if you hate it?

And the thing is it didn't need to be this way.
