Scores

BU advances to the NCAA Tournament, thanks to Sydney Healey's OT goal. She cashed in a rebound of a shot by Lilli Welcke.

Penn State is leading Mercyhurst 2-1 a little into the 2nd -- after going up 2-0 in the 1st and then losing some ground to the Lakers.

Coming up at 7pm is LIU vs Sacred Heart in the NEWHA finals. It is a chance to see Sacred Heart's goalie Carly Greene on espn+. I just noticed Greene is #1 in save percentage nationally (.961), a little ahead of Ava McNaughton, and 2nd behind McNaughton in goals against average (1.223). Of course, they play in different conferences, and so McNaughton's performance is more impressive against her competition, but this looked notable.

Rough last 20 seconds of per 2 for Sacred Heart, as UMD doubles its lead.

The announcers at Madison leave a lot to be desired.
Yes, just awful in fact! Today it took him half the game before "the Golden Eagles" finally became "the Golden Knights." Then when Wisco was leading 2-1, Clarkson had a scoring chance and he said, "They almost made it 2-0 right there." He is absolutely brutal.

However, the OSU guy was even worse! A St. Lawrence defender was facing a 2 on 1 against her and she went body-down on purpose to try to take away the cross ice pass. The OSU player held on to the puck and then passed it back to the trailer who scored. After the goal, the announcer said something like, "(name of St. Lawrence player) slipped on the ice, which helped Ohio State score that goal." Then later on he said, "The puck AND ice are slippery." It was shocking and laughable at the same time.

I can't believe guys like that are the best that Wisco and the OSU can find to do their play by play. Amateur hour at best.

Student hour. So yes, quite likely amateur hour.

Not a lot of love for Nadine's team in our semifinal poll. Only 2 out of 11 pick Ohio State to get through. Didn't the Buckeye backers get the memo on where to vote? Soon all will be revealed. The culmination of our season of trials and tribulation. See you in Ridder!

It's been a great final so far, and I'm really impressed by that Ohio team. However, they look to be running out of gas here late in the second.

For those not familair, the extra spice there is that the Ohio player who covered the puck is Maddie Wheeler, two-time national champ at WISCONSIN, who transferred for her COVID year to Ohio State

Oh my gosh what a good game!!!!!!
It was. It's also a cruel game. Dunne was the hero last year, and much of today, but she winds up being the player who wasn't able to control the rebound on the final play.

I'm glad it didn't go for 3 OTs, because the quality of play would have fallen off of a cliff at some point.

All the credit in the world to Ohio State forcing Wisconsin into bad turnovers, and taking advantage of them. I was hoping for a "walk in the park", and that was obviously anything but.

I missed the penalty call for the penalty shot. Was it a good, noncontroversial call?
It's a call you could make. It's also a call where you could say that she just swatted it out of the crease. Had she done so from the side, I think she's okay, but she did so from the top. It also hurt that when they showed the refs reviewing it, they always were looking at it in slow mo. Had they done so at real speed, I think it looks less like an infraction. There are some officials who would say, "Let the players decide it," and they wouldn't make that call. I wouldn't have been too surprised by either decision.
