NMU Hockey 24-25 Season

NMU Floor Hockey Champs 87-88
I get nobody wants to talk about this season, and this team has lost a ton of games. But, rarely do they get blown out. Frequently, they are losing by a goal or in overtime. This weekend they got a split against Lake Superior and lost by one goal Friday.
Hats off to you Cats. Keep up the good fight.

I did a quick search, and I will repeat quick, but from what I can see, this is the first year in the history of the program that Northern will not play in the conference playoffs. No where to go but up.

Eleven in the portal as of today (3/30) including NYR draft pick Larsson. Any idea what's going on?
With the exception of Larsson, the players in the portal are not impactful players. As Shyiak has said before, a number of players on this past season's team were planning to play D3. When called by Shyiak to see if they wanted to play D1 many of them "jumped through the phone" for the opportunity. Such is the predicament of building a roster from scratch in July.

I expect more players to enter the portal including a few surprises. However this isn't like last year when it seemed like half of the team left two months BEFORE Potulny's departure.

This is more a natural progression of a coaching staff having evaluated the roster and determined who is a good fit and who is not. Shyiak has said this past season was a program reset and next season will be the start of the rebuild.

That makes sense. Larsson is a loss but hopefully Shyiak and staff will get some of their guys for next year.
