Home at HFH for 2 big games-if we want to make any sort of move up in the standings anything less than a sweep is a disappointment. Oddly i find myself rooting for Union to beat Clarkson this week and then both Yale and Brown next week. It is all about home ice and all about the match ups in the playoffs. Anyone can be tough-witness dartmouth at Clarkson tonight. Some years we can see some match ups as being more favorable but this year-on any given weekend-who knows? We just have to hope we become the most difficult team for anyone to play-an dof course get healthy and stay healthy.

North Country is coming into your barns on a downer. My Saints can't do much at Appleton but appear to play better on the road. Still.....1 point at home and a loss to Dartmouth really stings. Even Clarkson has lost some of their early season swagger....losing to Harvard and just barely getting by Dartmouth tonight.

I'd have to say things heavily favor the Capitol District teams. North Country is limping in.

CCT lost BIG to Dartmouth tonight, 6-1.

Of course you have to root for Union to beat Clarkson on Friday. We're not going to catch Union in the standings. We now would have the tie breaker over Colgate and Cornell and can still split the series with Clarkson and Yale. So in a way we can still control our own destiny for a Top 4 berth (never thought I would be saying that this year).

Old eyes....when I looked at the scoreboard it looked like 1-0. All the more reason for optimism in Troy and Schenectady.

I'll be up in Troy for Saturday's Senior Night. I have to woo potential Yale students on Friday.

Clarkson's smoke & mirrors act has finished early. The results this weekend look like the last-place team that was predicted at the beginning of the year, just awful. I'd say we have very little chance to get any points this weekend.

Last I checked, this is still the ECAC. Anything can happen. I like our chances this weekend, but we still have to play our game and stay out of the penalty box.
Clarkson will not just roll over for us, and SLU always seems to give us trouble.
That said, if we stay focused and play to our capabilities, we should prevail. I have tickets for the Yale game, and that is looking like it could be for a top four finish.
                    One can only hope.

I think Tim's saying that he has no clue what to expect out of SLU. I certainly am clueless. As for Clarkson, Sexton and Bissette have been injured the last few weeks, and T.J. Moor recently left the team for personal reasons. I think losing those-3 guys has contributed to their recent tailspin. On paper, the CD teams should both sweep, but SLU sweeping wouldn't surprise me either. Again, I have no clue what SLU will do (or not do) .

Sad part is, as an RPI fan I have no idea what to expect either. Our main assist machine Laliberte is still likely to be out this weekend but we seemed to do okay without him on the ice this past weekend. We seem to be somewhat evading our second period/very late game collapses lately which is good. I really have no other half-baked armchair coach analysis to add.
Hockey is serious business. Everything else is just a game.

If I am correct Union can clinch at least a tie for a Cleary Cup with 4 pts this weekend. Of perhaps greater significance is whether Carr, Novak, Ikkala are back from injury and Roy from illness. All 4 were out of the lineup on Saturday. Overcoming 2 deficits of 2 goals with a depleted lineup to get the tie with Colgate shows how well this team deals with challenges.

Four points would guarantee Union the one seed, though not the Cleary. They own the tiebreaker with Quinnipiac by virtue of league wins (4 points this weekend would give Union 16 ECAC wins to Quinnipiac's maximum of 15).

I remember last years Capital District road trip quite clearly. It was not a very good showing. Hopefully a different Saints team shows up this year. Heck, I'll just take a Saints team that can be competitive at this point
