Actually, I have relatives who are long time residents of Madison. They've never made a claim like yours in conversations regarding the qualities of Madison and other upper Midwest cities that we're familiar with. They are familiar with a few other cities in the region and don't seem to think Madison has an edge when it comes to progressive, forward thinking traits. So I'm really not the only person who would not agree with your description. I don't think it's possible to make such a comparative judgement with little or no knowledge of other cities in the upper Midwest. I also think if given the benefit of the doubt regarding any heightened progressive nature of Madison residents, it would be of negligible impact on a women's hockey crowd. Simply my opinion. I could actually believe your opinion is completely wrong. In fact, I do. It's fine with me if you believe Madison is advanced beyond other upper Midwest cities in the ways you believe it is and want to promote it as such.
