The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Up until Notre Dame and UConn joined the league the schedules were always fine. You had maybe one or two games against bottom feeders and that would be it. At this point if the league went back to playing each team three teams it would be a big improvement.
I think a lot of the schedule is self serving. It makes the record look better and the AHA/Independent schools are better NPI value than NCHC/Big10 teams. Money obviously plays a part as well.
Fixing who pays and how is part of the solution, but I think you need to fix compensation as well. We pay way more than people in other countries. There should be a better system for compensating victims of medical malpractice as well.
Democrats want to do some good things as far as expanding access to folks with limited means, which is commendable, but to me the fundamental issue is there is way too much cost in the system. Both parties have too many sacred cows to make meaningful changes.
Not sure I’ve ever seen a post on USCHO I’ve more strongly agreed with. The whole system is completely nuts. There are so many people making so much money on how the system is constructed right now I doubt it changes anytime soon.
All of these guys seem pretty solid and this looks by far the biggest amount of talent Barr will have brought in. I wasn’t that impressed with the CHL guys he brought in last year and he has had success with transfers so nice to see him go back to that.
Just compare what they’ve said publicly to the fine print. It’s right on the donation page.
I looked at the system’s FS for the first time today and it’s pretty shocking. The system barely collects any more tuition/R&B revenue now than they did 10 years ago. Their expenses in that time have...
They’re marketing this revenue push as trying to make teams more competitive when they’re really dialing for dollars to balance the books. I get there are major financial challenges at the school right now, but they need to be honest about them and not try to pull the wool over peoples eyes.
It’s his money, he can do whatever he wants with it. I’m not concerned at all with that and my posts didn’t have anything to do with it. My problem is with how they are trying to sell this fundraising push to average fans/general public/whatever you want to call it.
The phrase ‘including, but not limited to’ gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want with the money. In a literal sense this money is staying in the program, but I’m sure there is money behind the scenes that it is offsetting the donations, if they need them to.
