Whats up Wass? Great to hear the pride of Syosset is doing well. I saw the article about you in the Hill magazine a few years ago.

I see Tim Webster several times a year as he is building stadiums and arena around the country and comes to Houston for one of his projects. Saw on Facebook that Speno's daughter will be playing Lax at Virginia next year. I chat with him about Lacrosse once or twice a year.

I keep pretty busy following University of Denver hockey.
Dont think we played the Jr Flyers when I was at the hill, I did play them many times when I played for the arrows on long island, many brawls for sure:D...didnt know tommy got hurt bad, I do remember his brother was a great college player who was on the way to the pros and got hurt as well...funny to hear as we L.I. guys got along with the buffalo guys very well, I sat next to fitty and greenie in the locker room..yea those platty guys got away with everything, they had Chris Panek who was their only buffalo guy and he said the canadiens were total *******s and the locker was split in half, he also said there was some crzy **** going on, thus the NCAA sanctions...gotta say paulie mueller was good in the normal games but didnt really step up in the BIG ones, I think it was because he was a soph.im sure he was great the yrs after, he had the talent... ..wass
I played for the Jr. Flyers. We would schedule a game or two with Hill School every year (1986, 87, 88). By the time I played with McFall, he had several surgeries and lost a step, but he was still very good with the puck and our team leader. Our group of guys, though very talented, never really meshed well. Their was a definite division between the Long Island kids and the Buffalo kids. We also had a problem with the underclassman being more talented than the upperclass so after McFall left their was no real Captain. We made one good run in 1991 (actually played to our potential) and made the NCAA's but that was it. Our goalies were also a weak spot. We could have used Pauly Mueller. When I visited Platty on a recruiting trip they showed us the video of the 1987 season. Every highlight they had was them beating Oz. Cheaters!
Yes Played at the Hill for 3yrs, they did have some good chants for sure...they now have a new enclosed rink very nice, who did you play with when you played vs. Hill?? Joe Albano was on my team I guess he was gone b4 you....Mcfall was my defensive partner my senior yr great with the puck, and I did the dirty work, knew fitty and stark would be good, and wacker was also big contributor...Fitty is also a Buffalo firefighter who was down at ground zero, but I kept on missing him and never hooked up with him in my months down there..we had a very diverse team my senior yr, that I think brought us to the Championship game, a lot of different types of hockey backgrounds that all got along great, to bad Platty had all those NCAA rule infractions, they crushed us all yr, we lost to them in the SUNYAC, ECAC,and Nat. Champ, not to mention the Cardinal classic champ game, and they were the only team to beat us at home that year, I think it was in OT ugh...........wass
I think Joey was after me. I caught the tail end of McFall (which I am sure you caught the beginning) and was a part of the team when Gosek became an assistant. My years were fairly uneventful though we did manage a SUNYAC championship in 1991. Your teams were much better than ours. I was pretty good friends with Wachoiak, Staerker, Green, and Fitzgerald. I am guessing you played with them. I saw you went to Hill School. I played a few games at that rink, I remember the wall behind the goal and the good chants from the students.
agreed fun place, my nephew is a senior and I have been going back for the platts/pots weekend the last 2 yrs that CC is unreal , but i did like romney as well...wass......was joey albano on the team with you at that point ??
Yes sir, played from 89-93. Wouldn't trade my experience for anything in the world. Oswego is truely a very special place. - John
Hey Wass, yeah, my kid plays on the club team at NEC and jv's. He's a good kid. Definitely drinking his share up there. Boy, I hope you're not having too bad a breathing problem, that sucks. Too bad I didn't know about it when you guys came up here to play; we could've hooked up. That's cool you want to get back into it. I stopped playing when my kid was playing on two teams about 7 years ago. Before that, I played a lot about three times a week sometimes. We have had some good leagues around here. Probably like what you guys have around there, all d.1 and d.2 guys mixed in with former pro's from various levels. Wouldn't mind playing in a noon time league, but every once in while I look at my equipment in mothballs and I realize I would have to spend about two grand for new stuff so that kind of keeps me away from doing it. But I'm managing to stay in shape. I go to the gym a lot. I'm training to do a half marathon in May so the wheels aren't that bad yet. See ya later.
Wass, That's cool you're a firefighter. Ground Zero must have been surreal. Respect the world out of you guys. Can't believe you got to travel all over with the FDNY team. I know they've come up here and played the Boston Fire team. Yeah, I want to get up to Oz. I went up there with my son 7 years ago. But that was before the Campus Center, still had a great time showing him around. I saw Levy at an Oswego game a few years ago. He has a bar in town and lives here which I'm sure you know. It was pretty cool seeing him because at the time ESPN was doing the games and I had a bunch of twelve year olds with me who immediately recognized him so they thought I was big **** that day 'cause I knew him. Well take care. I talk to you later.
Yo Billy, Im here in NYC, FDNY for the past 20yrs, got a nephew at Oz, going to visit this weekend, just like I did last yr for the whiteout weekend....ran into Ahern at the Platts game last yr, fun to catchup, hes teaching I belive, his kids sent me a ton of stuff after 9-11.....stayed in touch with Steve levy for awhile, and was triing to find Sean Fitzgerald at Groung Zero as I was told by Buffalo firemen that he was there, as he is a firefighter in Buffalo.....Played on th4e FDNY team for 10yrs, did a ton of traveling with them all ove the world,sweden,calgary,etc.....have ya seen the new Capus center???AWESOME.....this site is cool, just got involved because my nephew was going to try out but didnt.....ok man lets see what happens the rest of the yr
Wass what's going on? This is Bill Sewall. I'm living in MA. I got a son in college at New England College. I'm doing pretty good. Hear from any of the boys. I've heard from a few. I haven't played hockey in about 5 years. I did a lot of coaching around here. Other than that, not much going on. It's pretty cool keeping up on things on here. Let me know what you're up too.
