  • At least for in-state recruits, the primary reason that they choose to attend UM isn't the staff or any specific coach. There has traditionally been an instate culture of hockey players wanting to be Gophers. Perhaps that has softened a bit on the men's side with other Minnesota D-I teams having success,...

I'm happy for Joel; it should be a great fit for him.

The choice of his replacement on Minnesota's staff will be key for the future of the UM program....

Alabama-Huntsville has run into these type of issues on the men's side after dropping the program, deciding that decision was premature, and then being one of the programs that others didn't want in their conference....

My guess would be that the program updates its canned media release at the start of each season, and it likely listed conference titles and advancing to the tourney in 2017. It probably wasn't updated again after this year's tourney, so for those who look to a single source, there would be no mention...

I think that many schools are going to be making difficult decisions regarding their athletic departments in the next few years. If a particular sport doesn't have any "friends in the room", like the AD or university president, then it is more likely that it gets axed. Many of these folks...

Probably, I don't know. I should have broken my post into two separate paragraphs because I intended them as separate thoughts, not focused on Dunne throughout. And yes, I'm referring to whatever the non-NWHL is called. I don't expect it to be around long enough for me to bother learning its name....

Historically, this isn't fair to the CHA. The CHA has won games in the NCAAs (okay, Mercyhurst has); the NEWHA is still a dream that someone had. Moving forward, do you really want to saddle the Lakers, Syracuse, and Penn State with a schedule filled up with the likes of Post and St. Michael's? I don't...

Oh, oh. That could be taken a number of ways, and I'm not sure that any of them are good. I'm just ignorant about your recruits for the most part. Because the U-18 Worlds were wiped out, I'm guessing a Harvard class of 14 lost some credits to the resumes that it could have otherwise boasted. Hannah...

Maybe Harvard is getting a hockey player who can pole vault?

I think that having Johnson as coach would increase the likelihood that Jincy Dunne makes the Worlds roster. She was a key contributor on his U-18 teams and he has had to try to coach against her four four years. Some of the veterans may have shot themselves in the foot a bit, with that traveling exhibition...

Team USA has traditionally liked the D who include a high percentage of O in their games. Look at all of the BC veterans, and sometimes, they have reached for them at a very young age....

For Penn State, it was kind of the best of times and the worst of times, as up until the final two games, life was good in Happy Valley. For Minnesota, it is harder to find a positive....

It was in response to Timothy; he took it in the spirit it was intended. In the old days, we could send someone a note in the reputation comment, that functioned as a private message. If we still had that option, that is what I would have done here....

College students have the right to transfer. We as fans can't make a decision for any young lady. Speaking for myself, I have a hard enough time running my own life and I don't wish to run anyone else's life. There is definitely something to be said for the student-athlete who runs into problems at...

I agree that games against Penn State carry added interest beyond games versus other CHA opponents. That would be especially true if the Nittany Lions continue to ascend....

Yes, I understand what I'm posting. Is there something that you would like me to address that I haven't? To recap, from my perspective: Timothy and I were joking about UW transfers; I said, in different words, that I didn't think the UW transfers had changed the landscape of where UW fits in the national...
