In recent years, Northeastern has dominated HEA, and its top line has put up gaudy numbers. Before that, it was skaters from BC taking advantage of the Eagles dominance. Now? The top scorer from Hockey East is Ida Kuoppala of Maine who is tied for 20th; next is Natalie Mlynkova of UVM in a tie for 34th....

  • This is one of the continuing frustrations with the way the NCAA decides and/or documents their selection criteria. It usually takes Grant cornering a selection committee member to get any clarification.

There are certain situations that I doubt that the NCAA even considers when they adjust...

  • Next season is the final year that there will be a large group of players for whom the Covid year is a thing. There will be a few left the following season due to injuries and/or Olympic absences, but then that is another Olympic year.

I wouldn't have thought Muzzy would be able to blend...

  • I realize that this is a question that doesn't have a single correct answer, but who do Wisconsin fans think is the one forward on your team that you could least do without? I was thinking it was Sims, but last night reminded me just how vital O'Brien is to your success. I'm sure that Eden, Curl, and...

  • Agreed. Although it didn't help that: a) tOSU was wearing some version of "stealth" uni that Muzzy seems to love, and b) Baylee Wellhausen thought she was speaking to a strictly Wisconsin audience.

Other than the entertainment value and giving both teams a chance to play a dress...

Are the players healthy? Dan has talked about both Conner and Dunne, for example, dealing with injuries. If they aren't medically cleared to play, perhaps that extends to not being allowed to dress. Although there have been exceptions, like Alyssa Grogan taking the ice for the final seconds on Senior...

I wonder where Frosty is listening to hear the buzz. I'd believe it for coaches around the country. Casual fans? Most of them couldn't tell you who Primerano is. It was much harder to be unaware of Wendell and Darwitz arriving as HS phenoms and Olympians, because they were arriving with far more news...

  • It is easy to sandbag for the current UM team -- just tell the truth. UW has success against the Gophers by totally disrupting their passing. They may be stumped this time because UM's passing is disrupted right off the bus, so the poor Badgers won't have anything to do....

Not locally. They were high for Krissy Wendell, even though that was tempered a bit by having to wait a couple of years due to two years of centralization for Team USA. When you score over 100 goals per season in HS, people tend to notice you....

Off the top of my head, I remember a 2nd period against SLU during 2005-06 when the Gophers were outshot 20-2 on home ice. Coach Halldorson was not amused. There may have been good UMD or UW (or in the early years, someone out East) teams that kept them off the board completely. Mercifully, I've forgotten...

  • Must be an old joke that didn't age well after the name change; last I checked, Minnesota is a state, even though you'd prefer it wasn't.

If UW doesn't crush the Gophs, then that's on the Badgers, as the visitors will be there for the crushing.

Not sure what your goalies even...

That's using elementary math alone, and not using even that particularly well. She's 7th in the country in PPG, and has scored more goals than anyone else in the country. If we're talking top 10 for the Kaz ...

She should have more assists? It's not because she doesn't try, but this year's...

I agree that her positives far outweigh the negatives. E.g., I think she has the best backhand in Gopher history. Wendell and Ross scored on their backhands a lot, but I don't remember anyone else being able to snipe from distance into a small opening like #18 can. Add in her speed, hands, forehand...

The teammates have to kill all of her penalty minutes, and if you aren't on the PK, then you have to sit and watch for long minutes. So my guess for the teammates would be, yeah.

Fans? We got to live this in stereo for a year with the Lams, although the melodrama dial seems to have been...
