  • Show Me What You Got? Through 50 minutes, not much. QU leads 4-0 and is outshooting the Eagles 45-11. Although this could just be a case of the Bobcats being really good.

This is what I found for a current Whitecaps roster:
    https://www.spotrac.com/phf/minnesota-whitecaps/

If that is accurate, it has quality players on it, although not much for depth on the back half. What stood out to me is that there are four former Gophers on that roster, but none...

I won't say nurses are easier to embrace, because that may come across as misogynistic, but I doubt that the 'Tech fans would have been as accepting had the mascot been something goofy (e.g. Gophers or other rodents) or surly (e.g. Badgers and other weasels)....

At some point, around the time when the Golden Knights were ruining what had been a dream season for UW in 2016-17, some publication referred to the Clarkson women's hockey team as "Clarkson College", which would presumably be this school (at least I think this is the same one):

  • Worst-case scenario from my mind would be if USC and UCLA added women's hockey to trigger the mandate that the Big Billion form a women's ice hockey league. Not as bad as travel to/from Alaska, but ...

I imagine that the creation of the men's league must have helped someone, but it doesn't...

I'd agree, but Lindenwood scored five goals versus the Beavers, and I'd expect you to have more pop than the Lions. Although three of those came on just 13 shots in the second game, so it may come down to what BSU has in net that particular day, which has largely determined its prospects in recent ...

I'd guess that the nurses remember their trip to Bemidji last year and would like to repay the hospitality....

  • Last season, I ran a browser on my smart TV and it mostly worked. There would be times where I had to restart if I was jumping from one game to another too often, but both my cable modem and wireless hub are old, so that could be part of it. Or the implementation of the browser on my TV could be less...

Thanks for pointing that out. It kind of reads like Nicole is telling us why Wisconsin is going to win, even as she is officially picking OSU.

This season could be similar to 2018-19 when it was clear in advance that UW, UM, BC, and Clarkson all had loaded rosters, but they had varying...

Off the top of my head, UW has lost NCAA tourney games to Dartmouth, Clarkson, Colgate, and Northeastern. Adding in the season, the Badgers have lost to UNH, PC, SLU, Brown, and Harvard. The Wildcats own a sweep over the Badgers; I'm not sure anyone else has done that....

  • Thanks for the information, everyone. Lindsay -- great stuff!

While neither is ideal, my guess is that this year's Badgers will have a greater chance of winning games when their goaltending allows three goals than they will of winning when they only score once. A lot of Badgers last night...

Not to that level, at least in the short term. I agree that the coach will improve them, but he couldn't get UND to the FF with the Lams and Karvinen. Partly, that was because he had to go through the NCAA Champ, but I don't get the feeling that the Huskies have been sitting on an NCAA tourney team...

It is, on a national level. At the same time, it makes it more difficult to grow the sport in the local market. For example, WCHA teams only have room for six OOC games in the NCAA allotment. There weren't any two years ago due to Covid, so the only non WCHA team to visit Minneapolis over the last two...

I had hoped that Penn State and Ohio State would meet every year, as that could be a natural rivalry, but looks like it's not to be this season. It's more difficult now that the WCHA is back to 8 teams and those teams have fewer games available out of conference, but UW, UM, and UMD all wound up on...

For the forwards, it seems like one of the key decisions will be whether or not Heise and Zumwinkle are reunited. If they are, then maybe Boreen completes that line. Personally, I'd be tempted to leave Heise's line from last year together, and see if Zum can find chemistry with other linemates like...

These teams are deep. When you start looking at teams that you have 3rd or 4th for D & F, UMD gets Bell and Flaherty back on the blue line. OSU adds Maltais and Webster to forwards that won the title and gets a lot of the key contributors back. Not saying that any of your rankings are wrong, but...

Until we have data? At least UM has goalies who have played before. As for coaching, it isn't like you have Muzzy. Speaking from experience, Johnson is too busy sorting through Medicare options to spend any time figuring out how to fix a powerplay....

Be nice to Tim. I think he provides a useful counterpoint to robertearle's reality-based posts.
