The 1968 Union football team (defense unit only) allowed five touchdowns all season, and opponents only averaged 1.9 yards per carry and 7.6 points/game. The offensive unit gave up three touchdowns on interceptions run back for scores. Looks like both Ithaca and ourselves have progressed to the next round in the tournament. It's the first 10-win season in a long time. Cortland State, Ithaca and ourselves are the remaining upstate New York teams still in the running. Defense wins championships. Johns Hopkins will be tough. DIII does...Leave a comment:

Apparently, we got the last of the four "at large" bids of the 32-team field for the NCAA D-III tournament. Twenty-eight went to the league champs in each conference. I am not impressed with Delaware. Hopkins will be tough. They could end up facing Ithaca again. Getting ahead of myself again....Leave a comment:

Looks like football made it to the NCAA III playoffs. It would be great if either the Liberty League team, Ithaca or Union, could make it to the Championship round. If the Dutchmen make it past Delaware Valley, then they would most likely get a shot at Johns Hopkins, which is undefeated. It's still too early in the season, but there looks to be an enormous amount of parity in the league once you get past Q-pac and Cornell. It will be a dogfight to stay out of the bottom four that will last all season. This could be a big year for HE.Leave a comment:
