I didn't get to see last night's game, but the shot-on-goal statistics imply RPI didn't play all that badly. Might it have been the case that St. Lawrence's goalie just had a good night?
Have to wonder where he was in the Saints' previous week's game, when they lost 8-1. I guess the answer...

On the road again - RPI at St. Lawrence, Friday, Jan. 10, 2025
RPI has an awful 1-6-1 record at home this season, but has enjoyed good success on the road, where they've been 7-3-1 and are coming off a road sweep last weekend.
St. Lawrence has been even worse on the road than RPI has at home. The Saints are 1-8-1 on the road, having the dubious distinction...

RPI takes a 2-1 lead into the second but will have to kill 1:43 worth of penalty time at the start of the period.

Probably the high point of Brown's season thus far was when they scored a sweep of the North Country trip.
They did so while scoring a total of two goals in regulation time, with a 1-0 win over Clarkson and a 2-1 overtime decision over St. Lawrence.
If they are playing their...

RPI at Brown, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025
Having extricated themselves from the basement last night, the Engineers will try for further advancement against Brown. If either team wins in regulation, it will move into a tie with Harvard for either eighth or ninth place, depending on how Yale does against Union.
Brown seems to play...

The statistics indicate RPI had somewhat the better of the play and probably deserves to be in the lead.
Considering the Bulldogs scored seven goals in their last outing, I don't think the Engineers can expect to be able to sit on this 2-1 lead the rest of the way.

RPI at Yale, Friday, 1/3/25
RPI will try to pick themselves off the bottom of the ECAC standings heap.
Yale has won only one of five home games thus far this season, but the one win was a good one, as they beat BU, 7-5, this past Sunday.

For those who might still be thinking about football, I can mention a couple of things.
The Division III championship game, which always used to be played before Christmas, hasn't taken place yet. It will be played this Sunday night, Jan. 5, in Houston at 8 PM and will be televised on ESPN....

This has nothing to do with hockey or football, but as one who's been out of touch with student life at RPI for longer than I like to think about, I'm wondering if the office of President of the Union still exists.
I got an e-mail from the Office of Alumni Engagement, including a link to...
