OK, I'll bite...
Sure, Hobart is the class of D-3 lately, but their 58th SOS won't be helped much via beating #24 NU, and even one loss will be a kick in the yarbles...
(Having said that, I still expect a Hobart sweep.)...

Piros looks really good so far
And M'ville is waaay better than their record would indicate....

I didn't see that from where I sat. Both teams flew around, IMO, but the bounces favored the pooches tonight.
That's hockey, half the time....

A much closer game than was expected, but a win is a win (says Captain Obvious).
Piros got the start tonight, interested in seeing him with my own eyes tomorrow.
(My stream didn't work from Rye, but when do they get anything right down there?)...

Guys, UConn played well enough to win, and that happened.
Albin certainly wants the first couple of goals back. He had no chance on the third tally, yet went on to make a couple of stellar saves afterward.
UConn is for real, period. I thought Maine showed-up, but the margin...

NU was a fantastic program during that era, no two ways about it. I was commenting on dubious rankings using fungible and opaque criteria.
What we have now is far, far better....

Ya know, watching him live at RPI a few weeks back, I thought the same thing.
I don't even think that he showed up on the scoresheet, but he was the best player I saw that weekend....

There used to be a guy like that on D3HN, maybe 15 years back, whose "my secret-factor that I will later reveal" rankings always found a way to contrive that Norwich was the finest team in the universe, despite all the facts to the contrary...
I don't bother with that site these...

It's largely speculation at this point, but thanks for the link. It was a fun read.
(Too bad they demand a copy of your birth certificate, just to comment.)...

Nice job with that research. A good read.
I always tend to agree with The Great One, that 100% of the shots you don't take stay out of the net.
Maine's "shoot first and crash the net" mentality has worked lately.
"If it ain't broke..."...

Josh has played pretty well lately, IMO, and I think that his points will come down the road.
I wonder how healthy he's been until recently. I suspect that he had some kind of nagging injury in the first half that slowed him down....

I haven't seen every goalie in the nation, but he's the best I've seen with my own eyes. And he's easily the reason why Maine is where it is right now.
Two goals per game won't get you an NC as a general rule, but if Albin keeps doing what he's been doing, and Maine can find just a lit...

I picked up the game with maybe 12:46 to go, just delayed for the sake of seeing my local D-3 team.
Was going to watch the entire game tomorrow, but I don't have to rush into that.
Maine played a near-perfect 3rd, and that's all I need to see for now.
GO BLUE!

Well, that's a key part of the calculus, as long as you actually win vs. the strong teams...
I thought that OSU looked good, the sandbaggers' comments over on the Oswego thread notwithstanding. Utica's new goalie is a welcome addition.
Now, let's figure out how to take a game...

Even with all the games available that I'm interested in tonight, the Oswego game will be my primary focus. A win will bolster Utica's ranking more than any remaining games, aside from the Genny weekend.
OSU used to be the biggest game of the season, back in The Day......

Now, now... Lowell has never been a goon squad, have they?
I might be a little biased, since:
1. Both my nephews from the North Shore went to UML, and are kicking fanny professionally.
2. I got to visit with Grant there briefly when Shawn was sick, but still behind...

Interesting comment.
I suppose that in our current political climate, such a thing might be more of a factor than it was, say, 9 years ago. (Insert winky face.)
But isn't VT still solidly Centrist..?...Last edited by Fishman'81; 01-06-2025, 05:20 PM.

Denver looked better than BC to me. Scary fast, incredible goaltending.
Still, if there was any justice in this world, Maine would have done no worse than a tie and a win.
Having said that, the ship is righted and on we go. It won't be easy down the stretch, but I'm feeling...
