Some journalists have already speculated that Seth is not a candidate based on the press conference: Sabres GM said at the press conference that he's looking for someone experienced, which suggested to them someone with significant NHL head coaching experience. I didn't realize that 3 out of the last...

My thoughts
I am not a huge fan of having black uniforms or black trim when that has not been a base school color. RPI is not alone in triggering this pet peeve for me. That said, some of the blackout sweaters have been very well done. I would rather see a 3rd uniform that leans into the...

Whatever term you might use, agreements reducing options for players in this way would implicate US Antitrust laws....Last edited by DavidNardolillo; 04-01-2024, 03:22 PM.

I don't know what is going on behind the scenes, but most of the reported cuts can't really be a surprise. I think you have to expect some significant roster turnover on a last place team. I don't want to drag any player, they all played hard, but I think some of them really struggled to make an impact...

I don't think such an unwritten rule exists. If it did, it would be illegal anticompetitive conduct. The Ivies do have a rule that they don't take grad transfers, or allow players to stay for extra year of eligibility if they graduate early.
There used to be a rule for the grad transfer...

Your comment touches on something important. It's really interesting to see how hard the best commentators prep for games. Pages of notes based on research of players and teams, practicing pronunciations, watching old game film so they can better recognize players without spotters. Good production...

I agree there's an element of prioritizing here. ESPN also has the women's basketball tournament going on, which is a ratings bonanza this year. Might have been better to rely on the better local broadcasting teams they lean on for the regular season packages on ESPN+. At least you get people that have...

Bob Norton clearly loved broadcasting, and he did small things like the "Mini One-on-One" shown during Bruins intermissions and he even was color commentary for NESN on an Amherst-Williams football game that I played in. Reactions to broadcast talent can be subjective, but I liked his style....

That's certainly possible, but I don't think the cutting of players is the biggest issue facing RPI's recruiting right now. The team had a very poor and disappointing season, so I think a reasonable person would expect some turnover in the playing ranks. All of the players involved have played 30 to...

We are all probably already thinking this, but I think this report means that the coaching staff will be back next year. Because I don't think it would be a good idea to allow a coach to have this type of discussion with players if the administration was thinking of an imminent change....

I didn't read the post as saying Payant was among those told he didn't have a place on the team; the post just separately noted that he was going to enter the transfer portal. Payant did have a hard time breaking into the lineup for a good portion of the season.
Cuts happen annually in...

Thoughtful comments throughout your post rpi82 . Chiming in to add that Prapavessis is still playing in the ECHL. Jared and Mike were good players, but I think they got dragged down by being part of some really bad teams in the late Appert to early Smith years. Other than the year RPI had a 100% healthy...

The forwards were the better group and you didn't mention the best one (Polacek). That defensive group was a mixed bag. Bailen was tremendous, but he was a transfer from Bowling Green back when there were rumors the program was on the chopping block. Koudys had potential but left after one year and...Last edited by DavidNardolillo; 03-27-2024, 03:06 PM.
